Oh man - Imposter!
"Penny" is actually a bad ass trail rig living in Georgia! (Oh - and not for sale)

I swear, I thought I was being original! Clearly not, I see. I was driving Norman, my white 94 fzj80 when you were selling Penny 1 in 2012.

I think I had "Penny" on the brain due to a.) the color - like a worn penny but also b.) Jennifer Connelly's character in Top Gun: Maverick - Penny Benjamin

Benjamin, as we all know, is colloquial for a hundred dollar bill - "100". I tried to get "C-NOTE" as a personalized plate but it was either taken or not allowed.

My Penny was a grocery getter before @davegonz got it and then sold it to @PhrogsPhorever. She has had a ton of work by each of us and been around the world. Still going strong and a great wheeling rig. We have had a few issues. Had to replace the ABS computer and recently the ECU went haywire and had to be replace. It was an unexplained failure. But @ACC Toyota had gotten me out of the toughest spots while I take care of rest. The add I quoted is from when I got it from @PhrogsPhorever.

Oh...yeah...in the sig and everything. LOL!

and I think I reached out to you earlier about seeing who could do a PPI on a GX470 down there. That I didn't end up pursuing. My memory is shot. Done like dinner.

Well, clearly if you want the Jersey# I'll switch to Penny2

Seriously

Penny looks great.

Don't think I saw exactly which OME lift / components you chose and would be interested to know how you arrived at your choices.

In this case, it's bought not built ;)
That is to say that all lift components were already on the truck when I bought it.

Fox Performance Series shocks
OME 2.5" Medium Springs out back (might be heavies, not sure...they were meant for a little more weight)
Metaltech adjustable upper links in the back
Torqued Torsion bars

I'm adding:

SPC UCA's
OME Torsion Bars
OME Torsion Bar Reinforcement Brackets
Slee Diff Drop
Trail Tailor Extended Sway Bar Links

Penny is a little wallowy side to side with the steelies/tall-skinnies so far inboard, the 1.25" spacers will help with that.

I would also add that the front settled a little after setting it at 558mm, I'd say it came down to 555mm or maybe even
slightly a little less.

Desert Bronze with cloth seats? Wow. Just... wow.

Pro move painting the gap first. Penny's fantastic.

Not at all on a list of important things. They are twinsee.

Okay,

Went on a little bit of an Amazon spree...

Got a:

- 3-Ton Floor Jack
- 6-Ton Jack Stands
- Torque Wrench (10ft/lb-150ft/lb)
- 15" 1/2" Drive Socket Wrench
- Rubber Wheel Chocks
- 4-Way Tire Iron

Everything has arrived except the Jack Stands that get here tonight.
So tomorrow will be SpiderTrax wheel spacers and Trail Tailor extended sway bar links.

Today I swapped out the old, slightly-damaged grille with a nice aftermarket
unit I got off Amazon as well.

Amazon product ASIN B009DJQJE0
Took the Sombrero off the old bumper (the chrome hadn't de-lammed much at all) scuffed
it up a bit with a scrubby then hit it with some self-etching primer then a couple coats
of ceramic cast coat iron gray.

Looking forward to tomorrow and getting the stance widened a bit!

Did you find a rear wind deflector?
They are listed on ebay now.
Prices vary. $235 and up.

I'm sort of on the fence about even replacing the broken one...if I run into a good deal used, I might. But it's not a priority.
Especially with a hardshell RTT going on.

Wow, there's tons of them now.

Yes sir. Ebay is better than $400 for a 20 yr old used one.

So, an update today...

Turns over fine, no start.

Started multiple times this morning while running errands, but this afternoon, got in to go grab the boy from school
and won't start. Security light goes out when key goes in so I don't think it is immobilizer based issue.

I'm going to get a can of ether and check to see if it's fuel delivery. If ether doesn't get it to come to life then
I'll know (I think) it's spark related or something like EFI Relay/fuse.

If it DOES fire up on ether, then I'm guessing fuel pump.

I don't know about the "neutral safety switch" or what symptoms point to that.

PO said it did it once to him but fired up the next day and never showed the problem again.

Down the rabbit hole we go :)

Well, back among the living :)

I changed out:

#1 - 20A - Starting System...ECU-IG, etc.
#9 - 20A - EFI...

1999_UZJ100_FusesRelays_Hood.png

I tried to start it in Park, didn't start but was turning over
Shifted to Neutral and turned the ignition and it fired up.
Put it in Park and turned it off and tried again in Park
and it fired up.

Repeated numerous times and it seems to be completely back.

The one thing I wish I would have done in retrospect is that I should have confirmed
no starting before messing with fuses, that way I could be more sure that what I did
was what it needed...Given that the OP said it came back on its own after a rest it could
be that the fuse replacement was simply anecdotal.

Open questions to everyone...

Is the fact that it started back up in Neutral for the first time evidence of Neutral Safety Switch maybe dying slowly?
OR is that a symptom of something else?

Should I replace #14 - 30A - AM2 Starting System...just as due diligence?
