Build Trapper50's Build Thread - 99 UZJ100 "Penny"

It's really nice to have 95% of a ROOFNEST for 50% the cost. It's held up real well and it deploys and closes really quick and easily.
The only tough part is getting the awning rods off without the rod straightening upon release and hitting the truck.
If the trucks paint was in perfect condition, I'd be pissed about scratching it but the way it is, it's no biggie.
Between the RTT and the Gazelle T3X, camp is set up really quick. It'll close with SOME extra bedding in there
but not a lot. We ended up just latching the hook of the hatches but not completely closing them a couple times
but they never came loose.

After doing Fins & Things, I've found that I trust the truck's durability even more than I already did. The armor is doing it's job
and the hits it took were jarring to say the least. But it's back home no worse for wear. I wish I had external video of what
Penny handled, it was impressive for an IFS rig.

I am glad you are having fun. Most ppl don't want to hear this, but a stock 100 will wheel at least at the same level as a stock 80, and out flex a stock 70 series. I have surprised some friends in built up jeeps with my rig in the past!

Let me clutter your thread with a couple of fond memories of my old 98 LX: (please feel free to delete this post if you like)

Today was a good day for Penny. I enlisted local Cruiser Guru Trevor Pepperdine to install
my new SPC upper ball joint assemblies (the new 3rd Gen sealed units) and replace my 865 rear coils
with a very lightly used set of 863's that I got here on mud (Thanks! @2000UZJ)

I had experienced some sag on the back after the RTT that made me lower the front to not be squatting...
With simulated full camp load-out I gained .75" on the back and that let me bring the front back up to 22.25
which, with the diff drop, the SPC UCA's with X-Axis bushings and Hi-angle CV's, is just about the limit
of how far you want to take the front up.

So it now sits just the way I want it, now just need to save my pennies for some tires that fill out the wheel
wells a little more.

Oh man....almost ZERO. I had to shovel once so far for an accumulation of about 4 or 5 inches. It's been way too nice for it to be winter. Although some time in October we had 4 days straight of rain, which never happens here. So our reservoirs are full but there's no accumulation in the high country.

Bought and swapped in a 10/98 manufacture Charcoal Canister with a claimed 171K miles on the clock. Got it off Ebay for $200.

Gas-tank pressure build-up diminished to near zero and it now starts under the same amount of cranking every time...used to take
extra cranks sometimes after the initial start up of the day.

Already posted elsewhere, just getting it into the build thread.

Along with full oil change yesterday with 7 quarts of straight Mobil 1 synth and .2 of Marvel Mystery and an OEM filter
and a Fumoto drain plug valve.

Next is pass. side front wheel bearings and steering knuckle bushing. Last year's Cruise Moab must have finally claimed them.
