Hey guys so I’m putting new tie rods on my steering linkage and when putting everything back together it wants to fit back into the forward eye hole when previously when taking apart it was attached at the back eye hole.
Is that a problem? Or is that extra hole there because of that exact reason?
I’m assuming I’ll have to do a re-alignment once I’m done if I use the different eye hole.
I’m a newbie to this stuff so I just don’t know.

Do you have a copy of the factory service manual? It should give you the stock measurements for the length of the tie rod. Screw in the tie rod ends until it's the correct overall length, and it should fit. It's hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like you have too many exposed threads on the TRE.

remember to always post your model and year.
use search too.

Did you pull all the steering at once to replace the ends? Looks like your relay rod and drag link may have gotten switched?

With the tires aimed straight ahead, and the rearward leg of the center arm parallel to the frame, adjust the relay until it fits perfectly into the rearmost hole.

To be clear. The damper goes in that hole. If you put the drag link/ relay rod in there you'll have a 96 foot turning radius.

Interesting because I’m just reworking what my PO did - and I was just putting things back as I saw them, when I took them apart. The relay rod was connected at the back eye hole and the forward eye hole (where I have placed the tie rod - probably incorrectly - was just sitting empty) … the steering damper was connected another way - I’ll get a pic of how it was connected.
My lord still finding things out that my PO or PO’s mechanic did crazy..🤪 hah… I was not expecting to hear those responses - let me get some pics and some updates for you guys in the next day - it’s raining hardcore so I need to get my house in order before I can do that. But I’ll get on it right away to not let this thread lapse too much.

Ok to be clear, so that you guys can help me out best, this eye hole was where the tie rod was - the forward eye hole where I accidentally put the tie rod in was empty .. the steering damper doesn’t attach there from my knowledge (meaning where my old was) and from the instruction on the new one..

And of course now that i screwed up which eye hole the relay rod tie rod goes into - I’m having a little trouble getting it off - ughhh
I have this, but I can’t get it in there obvi. so I need to go to O’Reilly’s and buy a fork now - jeeze. Idiot.

You're dampener is aftermarket. A stk dampener uses the hole in the center arm and attaches to the frames crossmember. You can see it in @lowenbrau 's post #7.

I had aftermarket damper like that… that bent my tie rod. It’s is currently ready for scrap pile. Might not be problem if attached at end of rod but I also attached in middle or it didn’t work out/fit.
