I find myself opening the classifides just to look at this rig again and again. If it weren’t for the high probability of my wife divorcing me for buying another Landcruiser we would have a deal!
My 800th post - seems fitting - so I guess I found my forever Cruiser. 1995 HZJ75.
I'm heading down this morning to Over The Mountain Cruisers outside of Birmingham for a WHID Inspection (What Have I Done?) but I'm really happy with things so...
Hey another late comer, but I didn’t see a pic of the 65 FJ40. Mine has been converted to 3 on the floor so obviously the lever and 4wd is missing. 4wd knob has been replaced with a switch for the horn..weird but whatever. There is also something...
I guess I wasn't totally happy with the solution. I never felt like I quite had the modification dialed in. Nothing wrong with it in the bump stops worked but I feel like the setup could have been better.
So just beat the crap out of them and replace as necessary? I think we both have shackle reversals and I’m about to do the U-bolt flip kit so the application is similar.
I’m looking at a fitout for my Troopy that will allow me to have a spot to sit and gives a little headroom. And when the weather is bad I can still cook or whatever in the back with the top down.
Understood. I'm envisioning the bed platform NOT being on struts but instead being in sections. I realize this will change the use of the space ie: mattress/bedding storage given the "stack" of bed platform sections.... or, as was suggested...
I want to be able to sit in the back when the top is closed. As it is now, in stock form, there is a max of 48" in height. I'm about 3' "tall" when sitting (butt to the top of my head), so if I sit on a 12" box I'm just about touching the...
In thinking about my issue with head room when the top is closed... Is there an option for the bed to not be a one-piece thing (that reduces the headroom when closed) and instead have it be some sort of folding/extending platform that can be...
For reference, this is the thread that was referred to early on in this thread:

Ok, I'm out. Thank you so much for doing this, it's a great great deal for someone who wants this. It's not going to work for me because I really want to retain the functionality for the most part of the stock inside.
I'd be willing to come help and show you how to do it once I do it. Only issue is I have ALOT of rust repair to do before I even think about installing the top... I'm talking windshield, gutters, etc. Wishfully thinking I'd have it installed...
I will work to see if Cassiem can get us detailed instructions. But again, you could ruin your troopy self installing an Alu-Cab too.
You'll lose 3 or 4 inches in the back with the pop top just because of the way they work.
The front shelf is not my issue although I could like it removed. It's the headroom in the rear when closed. I like the functionality of that space. I wouldn't always want to have to pop the top.
Maybe I'm overthinking this aspect...
I like the interior height in my troopy as it is now with the stock roof. Was actually hoping that the pop tops would add more space even when closed. I guess I never thought too much about it though.
My trooopy in respect to other troopys is a beater. Not oem in the slightest, pretty rusty, and dented everywhere. Therefore I’m totally fine with DIY’in about everything on it, in combination of being broke in college lol. And if I mess it up…...
