Tire hitting tie rod

Just installed 33 9.5 15 on stock lift fj40 stock rims and tire is hitting steering components on drivers side. I will installing marks offroad lifting shackles in near future. Any idea what spacer or other options needed for front to clear. Thanks

Had the same on my first 1970 FJ40. Only about three fixes, none of them ideal.

1. Adjust steering stops to not allow such hard wheel turns.

2. Install wheel spacers

3. Different wheel / tire combo.

I did lift shackles, then 2-inch lift springs. I don't remember if I ever fixed it; it was twenty-plus years ago, on my first 40.

Install Saginaw steering is an other option.

Adjusting the wheel stops on both sides, frt and back and rt to left, should fix the problem.

Id rotate the clamps on the drag link 90 degrees so the meaty part doesn’t contact the tire then adjust the steering stops.

My 40 has the same tires & suspension, same issue. I need to adjust my stops.

We added spacers to the Freeborn in the USA because of the same problem. Solved the problem. I like the stance a little better now too.
