Looks great. Thanks for the bushing tech, ive got a heap of spares from my bj42 (in yellow too!) So theyll get a similar treatment. Just a question though are those shocks the right way round? Ive always seen the shafts on the bottle rather than the top like you do.. wonder if its a ome thing?

OME shocks are designed to go this direction. They normally have a hard plastic dust boot on them that would fill up with gunk if they were the other way.

I cut the plastic boots off because one was rattling.

Interesting. I had to modify my bushings in the same manner, and also had the rear shock 'boot' touching the exhaust.

So about my lift numbers....before my lift I had 1.5" lift shackles on with the stock springs. I kept them on the front and used the new supplied anti-inversion shackles on the rear.

23.5" in the rear (full leaf packs)
24" driver side front
25" passenger side front

now if I could only get my AFI figured out I'd get ya'll some pics to compare/contrast. Mines been sitting for going on 3 weeks now.

Haha. Not all of us. I’d prefer lower but time will cure that.

I’d lose that shim and those shackles. There is a lot of steering play in those things in my opinion. No matter if you correct the caster. Just one more place to magnify the top heavy tendencies of a pig on narrow axles with fat sidewall tires

I got my first long drive in today with the Warthog after the lift.

If you remember way back when, I did a knuckle job with all new tie rods and drag links. Lined it up with a string. I thought it was driving good and straight.

Added the lift and the extra height magnified the darty steering and I knew I should go ahead and get a pro alignment.

@wct49 and 49 Tire fixed me up this morning. I was 2* off with both tires toed in. Let’s just say my 50 mike ride home was a dream compared to the 50 going.

One finger on the wheel driving now.

Lift is settling in nicely. I like the ride a lot.

Did you have to send your hinges in off the doors, or does @Midgainc sell them as a set and you return cores?

You send him yours. I have a full set here for @Dustin Messina to send in but he’s a while out. If you want me to send these in you can give me yours for Dustin after you get them installed.

Took the Warthog for another long drive.

I’m real happy with the ride and the drive.

It’s settled a bit. 22-23” mid hub to the rear fender lip all around.

It’s running sporadically rough. Looking forward to the @FJ40Jim goodies for the motor......

I cut the excess ubolt off. Close in front but left room in the rear to add back an overload leaf.

So I decided to try out the different rear shock location on the rear axle to see if it helps with the droop

This is how much shaft was showing with the lower shock mount on the ubolt plate.

This is how much droop it had. Of course this translates different at the axle and I’m not trying to make a ramp champ but I would rather not have the shocks limit the droop. The sway bar is better for that than the welded end of a shock

I’m not sure where these shock pins came from but I just had to open up the spring perch hole a bit to add them.

This, by the way, is where early 40’s rear shocks mount.

Here are the “flex” shots. I don’t have a ramp but the tires are off the ground and it’s teetering

Fronts flex really really good. The stuffed side on the front is limited by the shock top and the droop side is limited by the shocks. Plenty of flex.

The front stuff shot doesn’t quite show the bumpstop, is it doing its job or the shock taking one for the team?
