My 73 had same carb with pressure regulator

On the DJ, the factory fuel pump is too strong even for the factory carb, so I'm running a external fuel pressure regulator at 4-5 psi after the factory pump. Check the what the factory pump is putting out and check the recommended psi for that carb. At least check that off the list. Without the regulator (I tried) it fills up the bowl and just pushes fuel out of every possible leak point.

I think what i remember reading is that carb likes 3 psi. So probably a fuel pressure issue. Jeeps doing jeep things! thats kinda crazy it needs a regulator from factory. Probably amc parts bin issues. That jeep is pretty cool though! Have you guys been able to do some driving on it?

That makes me feel better! I am sure thats the issue then. Fuel pressure is one of the biggest things I have read as an issue for weber carbs on other vehicles like jeeps. I am guessing I just didn't see the regulator on the donor fj55. I bought a cheep amazon special regulator to try it out. if I cant get that to work the holley is going on sooner than later. I need to buy the jets and power valve for it still though.

Not much done on the 55 today. I did sorta get the old radio working. no antenna right now but I got static coming through at least. Takes a few seconds to warm up/turn on but when it does it seems to be working. I am excited to try and get some AM stations. I also got the rear passenger door closing all the way. I adjusted the striker down and back and that seemed to do the trick.

I have been tracking the head light issue down. I checked continuity at the fuse block and voltage. Has continuity but does not seem to be getting voltage there. and I believe its the switch. However I need to find a small enough Allen key to get the switch out of the dash to check everything. Kinda hoping a wire has wiggled off or something. My fj40 had little screws holding the bare wires on the back of switches. occasionally one would wiggle loose. for some reason the wiper on the fj40 was the one that happened to often.

I really want to zip it around some but I may start welding in floor panels and rockers. At the very least I need to repair a spot on the roof and re seam seal the rain gutters.

No sir. I took the fuel filler door to my paint shop and they used that to scan and mix a custom color. It turned out okay, but not great.

Could possibly be toyota Nassau Beige 455. I told my wife it looked like hot coco. Any body else ever heard of that color or have examples?

Yeah its still the factory color. been re sprayed in some spots at least but in the hard to reach areas its not resprayed and its that color. Its the same color as @roadstr6 has on his 1971 fj55 called bucky. I found a few charts. I found this chart on Cool Cruisers of Texas's web sight and the color looks to be a dead ringer. Side note I love the seminol Red there too.

I cant wait to hear what you do with that jeep. I always thought the hard top DJ jeeps were cool!

Nassau Beige appears to have been a metallic color which my truck is clearly not. I was thinking either Sundune White (beige) or Pluto Beige. I never could quite figure it out.

I seem to recall an FJ45LV color called Coronado beige or Colorado beige that I had zoned in on as a possibility. None of the FJ55 specific charts had colors that looked right to me.

Dang I did not see the metallic part of that. Its weird because our 2 fj55s are clearly not the only two in this color. I have seen others on mud.

Yeah I have found this chart. none of the colors looked quite right to me on these but who knows. I need to get some small samples of paint I guess or take the fuel door someplace (witch for me is Incredibly time consuming)

I look into those colors. I may see about getting some samples or something. I have some time before I will absolutely need some paint. I have good left over epoxy primer and high build primer from my Suzuki samurai project too that will come in handy when I start the rockers and floor pans.

Side quest: I am finally getting around to getting my little isuzu work truck back up and running so my focus until my fuel pressure regulator comes in is going to be towards my isuzu pup.

Back story: I blew the headgasket on the way back home from Manteo NC in mid june. I got the head machined in wilmington super reasonable 155$ head is perfect now. when I was going to reassemble everything, I stupidly forgot to tie up the chain and it fell into the bottom of the front cover. I gave up on trying to get it out and back up. So then I decided I would pull the front cover. Unfortunately after pulling all the bolts on the front cover I realized that I need to pull the oil pan. Even WORSE news... Not enough clearance under the truck to pull the pan so now I am pulling the motor. It became a might as well moment. I can at least replace the rear main now as it had a slow leak.

really good news is the engine looks great. it has 168k miles on it and still has good cross hatching in the cylenders. and the transmission is practically new too.

It was one of those things that have annoyed me so bad that I just set the truck aside and decided to tackle it later. now its later and It would be nice not to push this thing around the yard. goal is to have the engine out by the weekend.

and dumb question but how do the headlights ground? I am trying to track down the issue with the head lights and tail lights (they are not working except for turn signals). Thanks!

We had a bunch of the flat base signals, they were actually errors as they were supposed to be 40 ones. Let me see if I still have any.

Did you ever find any? no worries if not. I feel like I can modify some to make it work too. Thanks!

The blade assembly and the inserts are both NLA from Toyota. Take one of the inserts (assuming you still have the original holders) to your local parts house and match it with a generic.
