Looking good! Are you going to run the factory bench seat or bucket seats up front?

Thanks, I really want to run a set of buckets with a console but the 72 seats are really cool and part of what makes it a 72 so they are going in. There is a 68 thats next in line that will not be stock.

My plan was to run buckets but my new tub came with the original bench so now I'm torn on which way to go. At this point you are way ahead of me so I guess I'll wait to see how yours comes out. You guys really are doing an amazing job!

I have been thinking about having some mounting points installed in case I want to fab a custom seat base for buckets. Then, it could either be stock bench or buckets.

WHAT? YOU'RE GOING TO PLAN AHEAD?

You'll never make it in politics!

I'd like to see what you come up with for AC/DC seat brackets. There's a:beer: in it for you.;)

Looks like they are doing great work, I can't wait to get mine to that point!

Subscribed. Excellent progress. I have a theory about those DS floor pans rotting out. On my 72, its apparent the clutch master leaked, unnoticed, over a period of time, caused the paint to fail on the inside and outside of the firewall down onto the floor. Your work on the DS rocker and pan are helpful as those are on my list too. Real steel it is. Great work.

Thanks. Lots of 71, 72 builds going on right now.

If I remember correctly, the drivers floor was the lowest spot where it had sat on a hillside for a few years. Previous owners had also installed a roll bar mount right in the corner as well. It's fixed now.

I just spoke to the body shop today and aside from some love to the drivers rocker, it's ready for blasting the first week of January.

That's great. Looking forward to the progress. I'll be doing the welding, blasting and paint. Built a 10 x 12 booth for blasting and paint this past summer. What size and type of tires did you put on your rig?

I have been back and forth on doing my own paint. On this build my dad and I elected to let the pros do it based on space and time. I'll probably spray the next one.

Tires are 33x10.5x15 BFG KM2.

My '68 was the simple result of being left thru a few seasons sans front doors and becoming an adhoc compost bin:eek:

I had the same mystery hole on my passenger side cowl (that you had filled in your last set of pictures). . . probably for some kind of antenna? The PO had it plugged with the fittings from a garden hose stuffed with aluminum foil!
Perhaps you can see it just below the windshield frame hinge in this picture?

Build is looking great, liking what I see!

3 years ago, today, my dad and I rescued this lonely 40 off of a hillside in WV. It's been a fun journey meeting all types of interesting cruiserheads and learning what to do and what not to do. Hopefully we'll be driving it soon and we don't see a 6 year build anniversary.

Even if you hit the 6 year mark it would be worth it, you are doing an extremely nice job on that 40.

It'll all be worth it once its done, those guys are moving. Most body shops take forever.
