Galley Plug is "fixed". For those that don't know, a 2F head on an FJ60 (not sure if the 40 heads have them) has a soft plug in one of the oil passages. It will blow out and end in catastrophic failure. The fix is to pull the plug, thread the hole and install 2 set screws with red lock tite. Even if it leaks, it won't blow all of the oil out. Head is resting in place for now.

Some progress; The head went back to the machine shop to remove a standard helicoil in an exhaust manifold bolt hole that i didnt see before. They are replacing it with their version of a 10x1.25 Time Sert.

Dropped the rest of the parts off at the sandblasters yesterday. I love seeing what pops up in these places.

@SMG is going to redo the emisions sticker that is under the hood for us.

Our painter is starting to dial in Rustic Green. The darker one is close but he isn't 100% happy as its too grey.

They are both T621 Rustic from 2 different manufacturers. He said the one on the left is close but a little "muddy".

Interesting

I took advantage of today's unusual temps and sun to get the driveshafts prepped and painted. I am still waiting for the head to come back from the machine shop. If this weather holds out, it looks like media blasting might happen this week. Fingers crossed.

Beautiful Weather Day today indeed. Spent some time working on the 40 myself as well as a few other activities. . . all outdoors. Looking at the forecast your blasting should be done for sure, looking forward to that update!

Me too....

Heck, with the forecast calling for warm weather for the next week I may start painting!

I think you should, did you choose a color?

There is a lot on my schedule this week at work or I may have started primer today, no luck on a choice of color yet. Right now I am still leaning green, unless I stumble on a dark grey that is not a metallic finish that really grabs me.

Check out 2016 Ford Lithium Grey

Aren't you busy packing for a move?

I have the lithium grey on my new f150. It is a great color non metallic and the only other ford in 2016 that had it was the Mustang gt350. It changes in the light but stays a solid grey. Lots of comments on it. I think it would make a great 40 color

Today, we went to TP tools in Canfield, OH to pick up some glass beads to blast the small parts. Pulling in, we noticed the open sign to their museum was lit. It wasn't open, but the maintenence guy let us look around anyways.

Made it home, made sure the rear driveshaft was in phase and bolted it up.

Picked up the head yesterday and got some time to install it this morning.

The rocker arm wasnt wanting to slide over the studs. Starting to get frustrated a voice from the past told me not to force it. A quick mud search showed that the rocker arm oil passages need to be aligned correctly or it will not allow the studs or bolts to pass through.

Next, I installed a new Toyota thermostat, buttoned up the housing and dug out the new exhaust/intake bolts.

@FJ40Jim , is there a way to adjust the valves on a cold engine? The FSM outlines the procedure on a hot engine, but I'm starting from scratch. Also what are your thoughts on exhaust manifold vs. headers. I noticed that you are running a header on your 60.
