When mine was restored they installed a hidden kill switch which was ran via wireharness and directly to the coil I think... I cant find the wires anywhere... cant jump the starter with this puppy...

oh yeah pin head, try to carry it in your back pocket and it would be a real pain in the ass

No power steering, drum brakes, and the 3 on a tree seem like enough to stop a thief from driving it more than a couple of blocks. The thing is so damn hard to stop, a thief would probably just keep rolling on into the intersection.

i had a problem some years back with my exwife,of course then we was married.anyway after she crashed her car while drunk .she went for mine later. current condition then was no brakes, broken spring hanger,no insurance, etc, etc.dam if the bitch did not get drunk and take it for a ride:mad: she got pulled over by my buddy which he escorted her home and called me while i was on duty myself.so when i got home i took the keys, needless to say it did not work.she had a guy pop out the ignition so she could drive it:mad: sooooo i hot wired it myself .i made dam sure when one grapped the wheel the would get the jolt of their life:D .it only took once.later i smelled something inside the 40 so i knew what happened;) along with a dead battery

Trunk Monkey Made the Day

Many thanks to those who posted various theft deterrents. I just went outside to play with the cruiser only to find one of my two batteries no longer bolted down. Apparently someone decided that my 24 v system was a crazy idea and that it must be a spare so they stole it. This comes off of a recent house break in, a theft of some tools from the truck a year ago and people who keep siphoning gas from my brother's jeep. Who knew Victoria BC was such a war zone. Anyway, I am done my rant......but seriously, has anyone come up with a locking system for the hood? or a batterly lock down set up? I'm not as concerned about people stealing the whole truck as I am about people stealing it piece by piece.

Any suggestions would definately be appreciated.

Side note, does anyone know how much trunk monkey's cost and what their annual upkeep costs are?

If you have the GM HEI distributor it is very easy to interrupt the single wire to the distributor ignition module. Can't even tell there are mods for an ignition cut off.

I have found motorcycle enduro headlight switches make a good kill switch. Rugged, Positive engagement, and big, standard size contacts.

Good Luck

Rocky

The idea posted by wantatlc (Link 2) is a great idea for a hood lock

I'd go with redundancy. They may figure one, but not likely two and it would take too long for the average joy rider to futz with.
If they really want it they'll get it. i.e. flat deck truck. However it's good to fend off the lazy thief.
Fuel cut-off along the frame...
Keyed ignition cut-off thru the fire wall with a craftsman tool chest lock fabed into the hood side apron.

+1 The more layers of security you have, the better off you are.

I just take my rotor button out. You can't bypass that. Still, it's sad to think, that if someone wants it bad enough, they are going to get it. I suppose it's just a matter of making it harder to steal than the next guy's Cruiser.

Speaking of line locks, could one be used to defeat the clutch?

I'm thinking along the lines of engaging it would prevent the clutch from being thrown out (prevent fluid from being pumped to the slave cylinder).

Love a 105mm shell under the driver's seat, wired to the ignition. He'll try once...:flipoff2:

nothing is foolproof but this will take a perp a while to cut through..

everything is welded and no easy access for cut thru at any point.
Fastened throught the floor underneath as well.
I just pop the knob off and pull it off. Most fixes a just a deterrent anyway.
* BTW it is locked into reverse ...If they start it they are goin home backwards.
I might temper the thing as well.

if you have an msd box it also has a built in ground kill switch . as for flame thrower .i was in S.A. and they had never heard about it . but i do know they where selling an alarm that once set off sent electricity to the seat . but it has since been banned, it was killing people . for the iginiton ,i lost my keys pulled off the column cover .undid the little screw ,pulled out the ignition switch .and turned it with a screw driver started right up no cutting of the wires, easy to steal these things .

i like this one
