i went to a bunch of audio stores and saw a few different brands.. they all look pretty much the same but i wanted a 2 way remote, a contact sensor (which comes with them all) and a motion sensor ($35 online).

i went with the Viper Responder 350 2 way ($219) Unistalled at a store and about $160 online - i wanted it today so bought it in store.

- really easy to install myself - can't get to the starter cutoff to work but haven't dicked with it too much yet.

i didn't install the flashing lights part of it since i wanted to minimize cutting into the stock harness.. i only made two splices in the factory harness and i should be good to go. The contact sensor works pretty well but i'm expecting the system to work a lot better once i get the motion sensor installed - any more questions shoot me a PM

Pedal lock!

I sure like the pedal lock Lostmarbles. Iwould like to see the detail of the hinge point. I'm thinking that the two pieces will come apart when unlocked or is there a pin at the hinge point? You should sell these, great idea.

Old military solution - Put an eye-bolt through the firewall (i.e. off-center, Pass side); Take the shifter knob off, thread a big-link section of chain down the shifter (replace the knob); When you park; put it into the nearest gear, and then padlock the chain to the eyebolt.

Solution 2 - (Old military again) - Yank the rotor or dissy main wire (Works best if dissy uses different connectors from spark plug wires).

Add cutoff - but - to the GROUND side (unless you're going to put in a truly HEAVY DUTY (i.e. - 1000 Amp) rated power-cut switch).

The pivot pin is 10mm (3/8") as I recall. It was plug-welded at both ends and passes through a hole that provides rather a "sloppy fit" to aid easy fitment of the device to the pedals.

So the two halves can't be separated in this design and I made it this way because I wanted to keep the halves neatly together when the device isn't in use.

You can't get at the padlock hoop with bolt cutters and there is a lot of steel to cut through so I think it does it's job (of protection) pretty well.

It is also very easy/quick to fit/remove.

And because of its low-down/hidden location it is likely to catch thieves by surprise (so they won't be prepared for removing it).

It clamps around the rubber of the pedal-pads so there is no possibility of paint damage when installing or removing. (The slots that clamp around the pedal rubber are tapered to "grip firmly" while remaining easy-to-fit.)

My pedals height adjustments are set to factory spec. And despite its weight, the device has no tendency to make the pedals fall (to bring the brake lights on). (This is something I was worried about when designing it.)

The design is free for anyone to copy... and anyone can even market them too if they want. (Unfortunately I am only set up for one-off production.)
