EDIT: I was going through some old pics and found this one - I wanted to put it at top of page:

And then I came into a ARB compressor thank you to @Laughingjackal

Time to figure out if that ARB in the front axle that came from @FJBen can go into the rear of the Pig. If it has to stay front, I would probably stick it in the front of the 40. The 40 already has Aussie in the rear.

My booty fab attempt at using the FJ-62 air cleaner is going to get in the way. Gonna have to clean up some things under the hood. Air cleaner, I have never like my post-fuel pump fuel filter arrangement either. Not very tidy. The Passenger side of the engine compartment is about to get more complicated...

To do list equals:
  • tidying up the passenger side of the engine bay - fuel filter, air cleaner
  • new PS lines
  • new lower rad hose
  • new AC lines
  • replace leaking fuel tank

The front and rear ARBs for 40s are different front and rear normally. Front is full floater type ARB RD142 and rear is semi-floating ARB RD153. If the truck had a rear full floating axle its an ARB RD142, same as the front, so it would be compatible.

But you could load a 153 in the front, eh?

I don’t think @FJBen remembers where this ARB came from… Wait, Ben, did this ARB come from that Pig you bought from Coyote John?

Yep, that came from Coyote cruisers. I’m not sure the model but it is an older model. To be sure you would have to pull the 3rd to see what model it is.

If you check out my 40 thread here, you can see the down pipe that is "W/COOLER" and "W/HEATER". It is part 16577-61120 (the latest 2F part number for this item). It has a bung on the backside that the heater return runs to. And it extends down low below the AC belt and practically straight shoots into the radiator return.

Thanks! In this image here, and here, I am wondering if the AC compressor is mounted a little higher than on the 3FE.

I need to understand my heater hose routing as well. Right now I am not sure how I would use that tap for heater line:

@PabloCruise Also I'm willing to be the ARB's in that axle would be in the RD08/RD02 timeframe. If you are lucky it's an RD08 which can be used front or rear semi-float. If it's RD02, then it can only be used in front or in full floating rear.

The only way to check is to pull it unfortunately....:(

The difference is the RD08 has a window so you can put the c-clips in, the RD02 wouldn't have that.

The 3F on my Troopy doesn't have a heater connection in that location... the heater return goes back into the water pump I believe. Perhaps the same on your 3FE. I do believe there is a downpipes for AC only, without the heater return... not sure the part number or availability.

So here are the Factory 2F equipped part numbers for FJ55s. To be clear, these are the two bottom hoses separated by a short pipe. I recently found some of these from my friend in Yemen but I assumed the "cooler" referred to the oil cooler. Do you think both version clear the belt or is a third version hiding out there somewhere? Just curious.

16572HOSE, RADIATOR, OUTLET
16571-60091W/COOLER RADIATOR SIDE1
90916-01055PUMP SIDE1
90916-01137RADIATOR SIDE1
90916-01142W/COOLER PUMP SIDE

To make things even more complicated, the short pipe assembly which is sandwiched between the two hoses also has several configurations.
16507PIPE SUB-ASSY, RADIATOR
16577-61020W/COOLER, W/HEATER1
16577-61030L/COOLER, L/HEATER1
16577-61040L/COOLER, W/HEATER1
16577-61080W/COOLER, L/HEATER

On these parts, “W/COOLER” is indicative of AC. The water pump is different based on oil cooler, but not the return routing pipes.

Your 16577-61120 is not shown above in @WarDamnEagle table, but obviously it exists...

I wonder if 16577-61080 "W/ Cooler, L/Heater" is what I need.

I'd think so, yes. But it seems to be long gone.

I'm wondering if you could use the w/cooler downpipes and hoses from a 3F/3FE. I just looked at my Troopy with 3F and all the plumbing... it seems like it would adapt pretty easily to a 40-series layout. We know a 3F/3FE drops into the same mounts.

Could I trouble you for a picture of the setup in your Troopy?
