LOL. From the Deputy Frank Sloup YouTube videos I've been hooked on watching lately (and Fridays with Frank) in Arizona, it seems that driving withiut a valid license or driving with a suspended license is common in many other states too.
pretty sure driving while idiot is wrong everywhere.

If it's not, it should be.

WARNING ⚠️ if you watch any of the YouTube or Tic Tok videos of Deputy Frank Sloup they are addictive!!! And it is surprising how many times after he gives a driver a ticket, they say they have seen his videos and ask if they can get a picture with him. LOL! I've seen some better ones of his, but here is a sample:

And, on his Fridays with Frank, there have been plenty of videos he has shared from Florida. No doubt about it.

Steering Wheel & Horn Button
Today my new / old steering wheel and horn button arrived from @Birdhead and it looks AMAZING! They literally look brand new. My wheel was in such bad shape that my wife was worried it was not safe. Thank you to those that recommended him. I'll take some pics later and post them in here.

@Birdhead did a fantastic job. Here are some pics, and I included a before pic of the horn button:

Wow you are correct, it looks new! How much did it cost total (shipping both way and the fix) and how long did it take. thanks

I sent you a PM with more info.

Jimmy (@Birdhead ) is a super nice guy too. I highly recommend reaching out to him if any of you have one in bad shape like mine was and want to get it repaired. I was going to do mine myself, but I'm glad I had him do it.

Thank you for the compliment.

Hello everyone. I've been driving a 1999 4Runner and a 2004 Sienna for many years (4Runner is daily driver with 1/4 Million miles on it and still going strong). But I have ZERO experience with the FJ40, and I've decided to take the leap and get into the game. I can't afford one of those nice shiny high dollar ones for sale online, so I am purchasing a 1971 FJ40 for $5k and going to try to fix it up and get it going. Top is not cracked, no glass is cracked or broken, floors are solid, body has a nickel size ding in 1 panel, and the seller said it has a factory PTO winch on it. Ran good but had a knock in the engine, a friend of his had rebuilt some straight 6 Chevy's and thought they could do it, took it apart, realized they were out of their comfort zone, and bailed. So the engine is disassembled and in the back of the FJ40. So, I've got a couple of questions. I see mention on here of F2 engines and things like that. Can anyone tell me what engine this would be so I can search for parts and/or someone to rebuild it for me? Also, I am in Central Florida. Does anyone know a good engine rebuilder near me that would not charge an arm and a leg? Years ago I would have done it myself, but after way too many surgeries and now Parkinson's symptoms, I've had to retire on disability (which is why I need to find a good price for the rebuild) and my hands & body won't cooperate. Time to let someone else do it. The seller says the PTO winch is hard to find, so I'd prefer to stick with the straight six (or engine swap a good used one if I can find one) rather than doing a V8 & automatic transmission swap. Any suggestions, thoughts, or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Find a local club to meet and greet, you will be welcome there, take some photos when you go and ask if there is anyone around who knows these motors, You may have an F engine unless someone upgraded it to a 2F. Sometimes 2F's are cheap enough. As rust is common Landcruiser just get it on the road and enjoy driving it ! The people looking will be looking in admiration not at the rust or imperfections. I'd rather be driving a rusty landcruiser than none at all ! Cheers

New Parts for Me New
Zero progress on the FJ40 lately. Of the 2 guys that were working on the paint & body, 1 went to the "Polk County Bed & Breakfast" (jail) for driving on a suspended license, run by Sheriff Grady Judd. If you haven't heard of him, you should look him up on YouTube. He's hilarious! And great. I think he's been re-elected 7 times. He doesn't mess around with crime. And he holds news conferences that you can see on YouTube where he talks about the criminals they caught, shows their mug shots, and tells about what they did. I remember one reporter asked him "Why was the person shot 68 times?" to which he quickly responded "Because we ran out of bullets!" LOL! The other guy working on my FJ40 tweaked his back. The good news is that I am on the waiting list to take it to someone else to finish the paint & body. And just as a reminder, I was just going to get it shipped here from Oklahoma, put the engine back together which was supposed to be all there but disassembled in the back, and drive it with the patina. But when it arrived the entire drivetrain was in the back, and it was missing the crankshaft, pistons, rods and a couple other things. Then seeing it close up there was light tan (probably desert beige) in all the gaps and it looked horrible. The paint & body guy said it would be way easier & better for him to paint it while the drivetrain was out. So, that's how all this happened. If I ever buy another one, I'll fork out more and buy one that's running and driving. Hopefully before the market bounces back.

Speaking of backs, it looks and feels like another disc in my low back has ruptured. That makes 4 in my low back and 3 in my neck for a total of 7. I go for an MRI on Friday to confirm. Below is an image of 2 x-rays side by side with the one on the left being from 2022 and the one on the right from about 2 weeks ago. If you look 1 level up from the plates and screws you can see a good gap between those 2 vertebrae (the discs don't show on an x-ray so you just see the space between the vertebra bones), and if you look at the same spot on the image on the right you can see that gap is gone and the bones are rubbing against each other and catching or locking when I try to move. Where they touch and rub also makes it a lighter color because of the grinding damage. So, I'll keep watching and reading about you guys and live vicariously through you guys for a while.
