I was wondering why it has taking so long for me to hurt myself on this project. Finally happened today as I was stripping insulation with a carpet knife. Dumb ass move indeed! Anyway, the cable came out nice though. :)

Going to get stiches now.

I feel your pain Dave. . . squished my finger about two months or so back trying to retrieve some brake line nuts from some spare axles.

In my line of work I always say if you see something ugly. . . cover it up.
Left index finger seems to be a favorite target for 40s!

Thanks Jim. Looks like I'm missing the tailgate bits. :(
It's not hard to duplicate. Basically a piece of 1/2" angle aluminum that is .120 thick slides into the rear window sleeve and sticks out about 1" on each side of the sleeve. On each side of the tub on top of the fast track rail a bracket bolts on. The bracket has like a "c" channel that is a little over . 120 wide nd is fairly deep. The c is layed on its side facing rearward. The angle aluminum in the sleeve is pressed into the c. The velcro then is a final seal which you put along the top of the tailgate, and about 2" of velcro on the tub on each side.

Spent some time on the truck today. Got the starter circuit, headlights, hazards, and the horn working. I might just break down and buy one of CityRacer's fuse blocks. Mine is a little touchy. Also, my turn signal/dimmer switch needs to be replaced.

Continued to work on the electrics. Today I installed Narva LED rear lamps from Australia ( bought from @reevesci ). Pretty cool lights!

Love the 40! I was thinking about 6h9 for mine it looks good with a soft top. Thanks for helping me decide. Keep up the good work.

Got some more stuff installed/upgraded the last week or so. I was having some electrical issues with the turn signal switch and upgraded it with a new OEM Toyota assembly from Cruiser Corps. I can't believe how solid the turn signal switch feels.

I also had a bunch of intermittent fuse issues where power would go out if I wiggled the fuse. I ended up buying a new fuse block and cover from @Racer65 . Really nice stuff!

Yesterday, I put a couple of gallons of gas into the 40 and tried to get her to fire up. No joy. So today I rotated the dizzy 180 degrees and managed to turn her over and got it to backfire. Tonight, I'm going to get my 16 y/o to help me start it while I rotate the dizzy back and forth. We'll see how it goes!
