So I hunted around my local car parts stores for replacement(s) for the FD vacuum hoses, individual or something that could be cut, but I struck out. Nothing even close to what was there (thickness, ID). Are yours new (along with those clamps - part # ?) and if so what did you use?

I just used 3/8” fuel line. I read where there was some debeat about vacuum pressure potentially collapsing the line but @Coolerman posted how the vacuum pulled by the FD system was no where even remotely close to being able to collapse fuel line.

The clamps are 96135-51300. Kinda tight but I had 10 and 10 were needed so I rolled with it!

Have a conundrum here...

I’m planning to use the front axle from a Canadian ‘77 fj45 that was converted to 60 series disc brakes. I have tons of drive shafts (zero clue how I acquired so many) but they are all the small pattern flange which doesn’t match the larger flange on the ‘77 diff.

I can’t swap the diff from the ‘67 to the ‘77 cause it’s ball n claw which means it’s like coarse spline at the diff, right?

Do I swap the diff from a ‘71 parts truck into the ‘77?

OR

Do I just swap the pinion flange from one of the diffs into the ‘77? Is the spline count at the pinion flange end the same coarse spline?

If swapping the pinion flanges over do I just need a new pinion seal? Do I need to do anything special to not jack up the preload, etc.? I’ve never had the pleasure of setting up a diff...yet.

Cruiser Outfitters can hook you up with a new pinion flange. That would be the easiest if you don't have one that fits.

Why aren't you using the axle that came with the truck?

Aint no one want the ball and claw style axle (coarse spline inners, bushing vs seal for the axle shaft, etc.) if I got a later one that's already been converted to disc. :)

I'll give you more details on the difference when you swing by to use the blast cabinet.

Aside from picking up a parts 40 series (use it to make a trailer) and an 80 series with a blown head gasket (lining up major parts for my next project) I’ve been busting tail working on this truck!

Got both the heater blower and heater box torn down, blasted and painted. A couple tabs on the heater core popped off when removing so it got dropped off at the local radiator repair place for leak testing and tab brazing.

Also got the front axle I plan to use disassembled (freaking messy), cleaned in the parts washer, blasted and painted. Still need to paint the axle housing and then reassemble everything.

Fiddled with the cluster fock of a mechanical carb linkage and then started on reassembling the front axle. Got new wheel studs pressed in.

There’s only a slight chance in hell that I have this truck done by the local clubs Relic Run...:censor:

Front axle close to being done, just need to pickup a set of hubs from @4LowandSlow one day this week and attach the tie rod. I pulled the one on the '67 axle, cleaned and painted it then added new rod ends only to find out the damn tie rod was like 8 inches short...wtf? Luckily I had a parts truck to rob a correct one from...cleaned and painted it. Should be dry enough tomorrow to assemble. Had no idea that some tie rods were short or maybe it's just some PO jerry rigged s***.

Also got the radiator and hoses installed...sans the bypass hose which I thought I had but evidently not. Ordered and should be here one day this week.

...and finished assembling the throttle linkage. Had to order an assortment of springs.

To top it all off, got my steering wheel back from Jimmy @Birdhead. So very nice!!

Glad your happy, if you have any before pics can you text them to me?
Thanks again

Perfect!

I've been working almost round the clock on this trying to get it done for Relic Run...still have loads to do.

Got the rear axle rebuilt with new wheel studs and backing plates, rear discs from Poser, and bent up some brake lines. I had to swap another 3rd into the housing as the original one had tons of backlash. Upon close inspection when I removed the cover...the pinion had some wear on it.

Thanks to @red66toy I was able to get a set of rear tail light cone covers from another cruiser guy that did some repops. Nicely finishes off the backside of the taillights.

47654462041_bb932ab624_c.jpg

Almost finished refreshing my elephant horns. Had to make a couple gaskets, cleared the bodies after bead blasting and painted the plastic covers. Final touch is to add the repop aluminum label tags to them.

...and attempted to install the exhaust which is a NOS down pipe and new OEM muffler. For some reason the down pipe is too low...almost like the damn thing was bent wrong by Toyota. It needs to be 'up' about 2-3" for the stock skid plate to bolt up.
Am I doing something wrong here or is this just s***ty luck? Considering my options to either have an entire new down pipe bent of cut this one...??

Also finished up most of the wiring and brake lines...

Wow, it all looks so great!!! I wish mine was that clean. Cant wait to see this beauty all done and on the trail.

Ugh...just mounted up my rear cityracer 16” steelies to discover they are hitting my rear calipers :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang: More so on the passenger then drivers side.

For some reason I thought they would work fine :meh:. Looks like I’ll be either grinding the calipers or looking for some spacers.

Pretty much conceding defeat for having this ready for Thursday.
