Will do when I get back to the truck, I'm out of town until Monday but will update as soon as I can. FWIW, I just bought this rig from a woman who has no history of it, it was her friends who had passed away.

I don't doubt the customer service from wits end, I've emailed with Joey on some other things and he was super fast to respond. I know sometimes the 'contact us' box sends an email to a dead address so I figured I'd ask here.

Alright, finally got a chance to get a couple of photos for you. From what I gather it's the stock fan (no ribs or ring) I didn't get a shot of it with the orange unit installed and contacting the smooth pulley.

If they are indeed from me then they are the Gates replacements. Same ones I have on my own SC truck. Sent out exactly 39 sets since I started carrying them. I'd be curious to find out more. :hhmm:

Here's mine a few minutes ago. This is an original TRD idler assembly. Yours is taller and off-set forward. Look at the back edge of your blower belt versus where this one is riding. I is difficult to see at this angle but I have about a credit card thickness of clearance between the blade and tensioner pulley.

@cruiserdan thank you for the pictures, I do see that my belt is not as square as yours is on the idler. Are there different tensioners that could have been installed for one reason or another? Any numbers cast into it or any identifying marks?

@landtank I honestly can't recall if there is a washer behind the pulley or not. It was about a month ago since I had it all apart. I'll have to remove it and see. One other thing, and I apologise if I seem daft here, but you guys are saying the 'height' of the pulley but I'm not sure what you mean. Dan's photo definitely shows that the offset is different, is that what you mean by height?

Thank you guys for your help

The only way that the tensioner would be different, that I am aware of, is if it was replaced at one time.

Toyota never serviced just the tensioner, only a complete assembly. A replacement tensioner that is "close to correct" could be an issue, or perhaps a "not quite right" installation of said tensioner.

The tensioner assembly is definitely different. If you look at the boss on the pivot side you can see that the shoulders are more squared-off on the original TRD tensioner than they are on the Magnuson unit. That being said, yours doesn't hit either. How much room do you have between the pulley face and the fan blades?

the dimensions of fan-to-tensioner or fan-to-belt distances are different on our two S/Ced trucks - two different generations of S/C, as well as tensioners

the LX has a black hub clutch (with some ghetto spacers to run a stock fan), the 80 a blue hub clutch with stock fan (also spacers, but different thickness than the LX)

The fan looks like one from 3fe - a '91-92. Attached are comparison.
The left fan is from fzj80 - from my '96.
I did run the 3fe fan with a blue fan clutch (no spacer) for a while until the orange version was available and went back to the fzj80 fan.

So even with the spacer and combination of other things the 3fe fan may be 'off' just enough.
