The first time I saw the concept of putting a 3FE head on a 2F block I was just mesmerized. Combining two Toyota engines of different eras (even though they are very similar) to create something unique that performs well is just awesome.
I hadn't really thought I'd be doing this anytime soon, but the parts came up for sale at a killer price.
From what I have read it sounds like I'm gonna be the first nut job to dismantle a solid running 2F, and swap in fuel injection.
Parts acquired yesterday:
All of those parts were pulled off of a 91 FJ80 with 180k on it. The build date was 08/90. Should be a 1991, right?
I've read some good threads that I will link here:

Help me plan for a 2FE
Last, but not least:
Adapting 3FE Induction to a 2F in a 1969 FJ40
To see a little more of the previous:
ROTW: Pappy's 1969 FJ40
The plan is to assemble the head and block in a stock form, leaving the bottom end of my 2F alone. No cam swap, no crank balancing. Balancing would be nice, but I'm not gonna pull all that stuff apart. My 60 has run great as is. Just needs a little more electronics in it
The head will be sent for cleaning, checking, etc. No shaving. It is my understanding that just adding the 3F head bumps compression ratio. I may have the injectors cleaned if I have the money.
The wiring of this is gonna be fun. I'm gonna go through it at my leisure and determine what needs to be there, and have it as stand alone as possible.
All of those parts are still in my 60 except for the EFI harness
I really want to have a firm understanding of the wiring before I take my running motor apart. I think that is a good plan seeing as it is my only car. I know there is a level of difficulty involved with this, that is why I'm not gonna jump in too quickly.
Attached are some pictures of the parts, and the empty engine bay of an 80
Just wanted to post this up to have something to document my build and help others. I'm sure I'll think of more questions.
btw the 60 tried to shove fuel efficiency in my face for thinking of going with fuel injection. I got 15MPG on the way up to Dallas. 33's/3.7's/H42. And that was going 70mph. Not too shabby.
Big shout-out to joekatana for the parts
