FJ60 2lo with stock transfer case EASY mod

ok well i decided to finally pull my transmission outta my truck yesterday and rember reading something about 2lo on a stock transfer case... so before i worked on taking out my tranny i decided to make the 2 lo work.
This is an EASY mod and can be done in about an hour and a half if your drinking and being lazy (I was) that includes disassemble and re assemble.

here is what you start with


ok first get the shifter boot outta the way by removing the 4 10mm bolts holding it down.




next pull the boot back and outta the way. or you and unscre the shift knob and take it all the way off turn the shift knob CCW (as if you didnt already know)

ok next there are 2 bolts that need to be removed to get the bracket out and off of the transmission.
one right uo on top. i beleive to be a 12mm.



and another under the truck (i had my skidplate off makes it SOOOO much easier but can be done with it on)
i beleive this was a 12mm bolt head. (both were the same size)


ok now you have your bracket that has a little tab on it on the upper left side. (sorry i had already cut mine when i decided to make a tech outta it) but here ya go anyway




now you dont have to cut the bracket you can actually just remove it but i figure maybe it ads some sort of structrial support so i cut mine so i could re-install it.

ok now your done and can now go from 2wd HI to 2wd LO by moving shifter to right

you can also go from 4wd LO to 2wd LO by simply pushing shifter straight up.

told ya easy huh?

can this be done to fj62 as well? hmmmmm

if you could somehow keep it from shifting into 4wd when you put the lever in lo range then yes...

on the 62 weather the button is pushed or not when you shift into lo range it engauges 4wd. if you could make it so it only engauges when you puch the button then yes you could also have 2 lo as it is the same split case only with an actuator on it as opposed to a manual linkage.
