I finally get the shop I have wanted for too long (1 Viewer)

Making some progress this weekend. I ripped a piece of cedar down to 3/8”x1” and 1/4”x1”. I used that material to box the openings in the slat wall. Then I applied a coat of clear polyurethane. There are no fasteners holding the strips in place.

@Michael B great looking work and a tedious job 👍

Thanks Al. It wasn’t too difficult.
You must have the right tools….my best argument was….”if I had the right tool, it would be better” 😂

I did buy a used compound miter saw a few months ago. I should have bought it 2years ago 🤷🏻‍♂️

My dad was 90 when he said he wanted a compound miter saw. We got together and bought him the DeWalt 10” saw with the 6’ stand and he loved it…used it maybe 3 times. He passed at 96 and gave me this saw… frankly, I did several rooms in my house replacing the 1970’s moulding and adding crown. That saw is amazingly precise. But in the last 2 years, I keep it semi-stored and ready to use but the few moves I need to make to get it ready, are physically defeating….heavy monster

I mounted mine on a collapsible portable base. It really is just right for me. The saw remains permanently mounted to it.

Not to hijack but I gave my son my 10" Makita slide compound saw that probably had hundreds of hours of time on it when we moved to Saudi. After much research I bought this Bosch 12" with their stand. I have no idea how I lived without this combination for so many years. Of all places, Amazon seems to always have the best price on the combination package.

Amazon product ASIN B01MF5Z96K

I bought a 12” Rigid from a pawn shop and the stand came from Home Depot. The stand was cheaper there than Amazon.

Yes you always have to check Amazon prices; especially recently I've noticed. IIRC I could get the saw or the stand cheaper elsewhere but not the combination, at least not at the time.

If you aren't already aware of them, Keepa and Camel Camel Camel are good extensions for keeping track of prices:
Also lets you see when Amazon boosts a price up and then gives you a "discount" back to the normal price.

Today I finished staining and painting the rest of the trim work. Then I made the hot water heater connection. With that being said please see the following announcement.

Hear ye, hear ye. Let it be known, far and wide, to all who may give care, my shop project is officially complete. Let the villagers rejoice, the maidens swoon and the projects begin!

Looks really nice, but I do have to let you know that it will NEVER be completely "done"!!!!! :D

Thanks! It may need some upgrades or repairs but the the project is complete according to the plan ;-)

I am just looking at your wall outlets. I placed 4 outlets every eight feet in the shop and there are 56 plugs available for use….. and as you know, it ain’t enough. Since this is your office, maybe it works? I am replacing a few with built in USB ports to eliminate the chargers and power supplies for dumb stuff

@Michael B A picture is worth a thousand words….. OUTSTANDING !
