That overhead work is no fun.
I hired a painter and he sprayed and back rolled the whole shop, if I recall was under $1k all in with supplies, no regrets.
It sucks things I’d get a ban for saying. I considered hiring someone but figured being close to Christmas and new years, they wouldn’t fit my timeline.

Liiiiiiiiights!!!!!! Didn’t get the fans up because the hardware they sent was cheap. Went and got better stuff and picked up cabinets. Need to figure out the arrangement then cabinets and lower 3’ all the way around will get painted a medium gray. Cabinets are a little wet from the trip home, that’s the dark spots.

Lookin great, and coming together fast now!!! I'm sure you have a plan/layout already, but in my last garage, I used cabinets like that. When I set them up, I spaced them so I could sneak the shop vac, roller chair, and a shelf between two of them for jackstands. Keeping all that s*** tucked away in a nook really helps with floor space. I also picked up some cheap 2x4x? plexiglass from Home Depot and put it on the walls as a back splash to protect the white paint and make it easier to wipe down. I ran a bead of clear bath caulk to seal it to the top of the bench/counter top so nothing could seep behind. Worked out really well.

I’m going to put butcher block typ counters on them and maybe a 12” or so aluminum backsplash but I like the plexiglass idea for around where my sink will be. Help contain splashes and easy to clean up when it doubles as a urinal because it’s cold outside….

I did think about spaces between some cabinets but continue the counter over the void for tucking things like rolly chair, etc.

Using that same concept here. I bought these nylon bench parts on Amazon and made 6’ and 8’ work benches and the gaps in between are ideal for rolling something into those gaps. With a few 2x4’s, it’s a very quick and super solid assembly. I have 4 8 footers and 2 6 footers. Had a few old Formica tops, the rest are plywood and sealed. I did not use the upper shelves….there is more than enough pegboard…over 72 feet.

Fans are up and they really move some air! They are 8’ diameter.

Also got the bib I did up and a new lighted sign my wife got me up. Need to rig up a better mount and I think I can wire them together off the remote the new sign came with.

Very nice! Where did she find that sign?
A website called afterglo. She says the customer service sucked; placed the order and got nothing. No confirmation, no ship notification. Then it just showed up. (Purchased a couple weeks ago and showed up about a week later).

She just sent that link and I saw the price. Holy catfish! I wouldn’t spend that much on a sign. She said “it was a birthday present just be thankful”.

Got the lower contrast color painted this afternoon. I’m glad I did it, really breaks up all the white. May do a narrow stripe where the white and gray meet. My wife suggested crimson. She went to Wazzu (Washington State U). That’d be their colors, I said maybe. I went to University of Wa. Anyone in the northwest sees the conflict there…. But I’m not painting my shop god awful purple and gold.

Ha, I can relate. My son, myself and my kid's Mom are WSU grads. In fact he lives in Moscow now and starts work at WSU on Feb 1. My daughter has a Masters in Social Work from the U of W.

To add to it, my sister in law went to U of O. Go ducks!

Last night I screwed together and painted the cabinets. Installed them and the countertops today. I figure this trendy “butcher block” stuff will hold up well. I’m pretty much at a standstill until my door tracks show up. Head skiing tomorrow and maybe move some things in through the man door. (The last 3’ of counter is just sitting there).

I’ve had this coat rack since I was 4. My 5 year old daughter wants to be a paleontologist when she grows up (has said this since she was 2) and she was so excited to see this get put up.

I like the outlets up towards the ceiling… I have an old Harley-Davidson neon shop clock and run an extension cord from the top of the wall to run it

My dad travelled across the state for a visit this weekend and helped me get the lift installed. Also got the door tracks installed and the guy is supposed to come wind the springs this week then basically it’s done!

Perfect timing so I can pull something in….

Probably the fastest shop build I've seen. Very nice!

What fan is that?
I’d have to look at the brand. They are 8’ diameter, 6 speed and reversible, all controlled by remote. My wife found them on a site called wayfair. Pretty stout.
