Thanks man!ya know, i dont think there is a truly flat piece of steel on a pig, or any vehicle just for that oil canning thing, my Troopy for example looks like a bunch of flat square panels but nope, not a truly flat one to be found.
at any rate, great job on that hood!!!!
oh i know, at the end my ol' piggy didnt have a straight piece of metal on it EXCEPT the hoodAnd also I’ve never had a truly straight hood to sit there and look at, ya know?
I can’t see it
What, if anything, are you using to prevent flash rust? Whenever I take things down to bare steel... the flash rust starts creeping in. One of the few non-benefits of living in Kentucky... lol.Small note of interest…
Been fighting some moving high spots, low spots, and oil canning, until I finally realized that there should be two planes of convexity in the center sections. Made some reference points from the best side and transferred them to the other side, and was immediately able to get the shape worked out and eliminate the oil canning. For whatever reason I was under the impression that all these flat areas were truly flat, which they are not. Maybe this helps someone else in the future.

Keeping it inside, that’s about it. There will still be a fair amount of prep work to do before spraying anything on it.What, if anything, are you using to prevent flash rust?
