FJ40 Non USA Air Cleaner Assembly Support Bracket No. 2 Tech (2 Viewers)

For those looking to simplify or streamline their engine bay by installing a Non USA Air Cleaner Assembly from an 8/80 + FJ40 17700-61081 (8/80 - 10/82 Paper Element).

There are two brackets:

The primary support 17851-61020
The lower support No. 2 17852-61020

The lower bracket attaches to the bottom of the air cleaner assembly and to the engine block. Only engine blocks after 8/80 (11411-61013) will have the necessary mounting bolt holes as shown.

Aren’t those holes the same as used for power steering on 79+ FJ40s? Pic of my 02/79

My Saudi spec 1983 FJ45 has factory PS and that style air cleaner. I will attach some photos of the mounting brackets later when I go down to my shop.

Good you posted this because I've been scouring for a similar bracket, but for 75-80 cyclonic in ROW markets.

That other bracket 17852-61010 shows applicability for 7/79 -7/80 for air cleaner assembly 17700-61080.

1/75 - 4/78 does not show a bracket for air cleaner assembly 17700-61010…

Correct - my air cleaner is -61080 and has the bosses on air cleaner to mount to bracket

Again, 1983 (12/82) Saudi FJ45 Troopy. PS pump is on passenger side. It has the cyclone air cleaner but the part number is 17700-61091.

There were a few changes to the round air cleaners over the years. Bracket 17852-61010 (7/79-7/80) was used for extra air cleaner support and attaches to a bracketed stud on the rear side of some of the the air cleaner cans, and then to two tapped holes on the outside of the intake manifold. Of course the air cleaner that originally came with the engine may have been substituted over the years.
