Worked on my rear bump stops. I installed these pads for them to land on.

Basically Im trying just to get the axles in and the steering good enough to get me down the road.(while still making it safe) I may use a fj80 axle in the rear but not sure yet. I wan't to use the front fj60 axle because I can use a lot of upgraded parts from my 40 axle, and it will be stronger in the end because of the bigger differential. If I get a rear 80 I will probably venture away from an elocker because many people have reported it doesn't do well for rock crawling unless I get it for really cheap.

Above, you mention a stronger diff cause it's bigger? I thought the only difference between 40 and 60 diffs was the long side being longer on the 60, but otherwise the diffs the same 9.5"?

Maybe I was responding to a question of using a set of 80 series axles vs widening the front 60 axle. In which case I ended up with the 9.5 diff using the fj60 axle vs the 8" 80 front. Just a guess. But can't remember for sure why I said that.

Well I've had a bit of a rough patch in the cruiser world. My 40 got broken into, they stole a bunch of stuff inside that I doubt they even know what it does. They also bent up my soft top door pretty bad. I'm considering putting a alarm on it. Really all I want is a proximity sensor to trigger an alarm. In addition I've been working on my 80 series and had some of the to be installed flares stashed in the corner of the shop. Some jerk stepped on them and crushed one of the flares and kicked the rest. Dont know who did it. So now I gotta track down another flare and fix the others. Im going to try to get the 40 in the snow this weekend.

Brutal man!!!

Sorry to hear. Ive caught people twice going through cars on our street. One time i surprised him.... i slipped on the wet ground and my hand made contact with his face

that sucks. i’m glad they didn’t steel your 40 though. i have a friend who had his built up jeep stolen and all they did was bag it and then flip it into the river where the police found it the next day. after all the work he had done on it he didn’t have the heart to repeat it and still hasn’t built another 4x4 since. you’ve got way more work into yours too.

don’t get me wrong dealing with repairs after a break in sucks and it just feels violating.

Yeah maybe I'll start a thread on alarm system installing. If I had an alarm to make some noise it would have stopped them-too many people near by.

Yeah they stole my winch controller which they probably looked at for a bit after and threw away, my auto meter tire pressure gauge which is about 20 bucks, and 2 old very scratched worn pairs of prescription safety glasses. Retarded. They didn't scratch the paint or tear the soft top. If I spend some time with the soft top door frame I'll get it pretty close to where it was b4. Could have been much worse though.

Someone went through my wifes car and stole the lock for her lug nuts! lol it was in a little velvet bag they prob had no idea what it even was and tossed it.

WOW now that really sucks!! Glad your 40 is still intact and not destroyed trying to steal stuff. The alarm needs to be hooked up to a inverter putting 120 volts to the door handles or something like a taser attached to the handles.

Motley lookin' crew there :p
