Looks like it. I used what looks like the same on my engine and transmission.

If anyone is actually still following this thread that I don't text privately, here's what I'm actually doing:

I bought a GM NV4500 for cheap. I need a Dodge NV4500. So what I did is buy everything I need to make my GM transmission look like a Dodge. At this point I could have just bought an NV4500 that was correct, but I'm in too deep! "We're ALL mad here..."

I still need a mainshaft and whatever bearings I end up destroying by removing them... And seals and gaskets...

For anyone who's more confused than I, allow me to attempt to explain: I'm doing as I call an "inverse" transmission rebuild, I'm replacing the two cases, input shaft, mainshaft, and bearing retainer, but reusing all the old gears an stances and bearings. They appear to be in good shape.

And gaskets and seals for the transfer case, the bearings look good so I'm electing to just reassemble.

I'm hoping the input shaft bearing retainer is long enough with the 3/4" thick adapter... I have a spare H42 on the shop floor, need to remember to remove the bearing retainer and measure.

Two major snags I've had over the past couple weeks.

There's a 3/16" roll pin that holds the reverse gear shift fork to the linkage, that needs to be driven out. I used my 3/16" punch and drove out the pin but the punch got stuck, the head of it mushroomed put. Could not pull it out with vice grips, here's what I did:

Cut a bolt and welded it to the punch

The other major hang-up is removing the 5th gear is being a major pain in the ass. I've broken two pullers so far :bang:

Yep..
The manual makes disassembly of the transmission look "easy".
As you're finding out... It ain't.

Snap-On puller$.

You could apply the same theory to the gear as you did to get your punch out. Find a piece of tube or pipe that slides over your tailshaft but butts up against the gear. Tack weld pipe to the gear. Weld end with nut on the other end of the pipe for your slide hammer to attach.

I've been in your situation before and that's what worked.

This gear is ON THERE. And my slide hammer is no where beefy enough for that. Apparently these gears are either ridiculously tightly splined, or they slide right off (usually on the Cummins trucks). There is a $500 Mopar special-service puller ment for it.

Calling around to a few local Dodge dealerships got me nothing but laughter on the other side of the phone line.

I'm bringing it to my machine shop tomorrow morning and letting them them take a look at it.

They've always been proud of their specialty diff tools...not surprised they have a line of transmission tools as well...maybe you could mimmick it if you could find a picture of it...don't let the tool be smarter than the mechanic; it's only steel...

I dropped it off at my machine shop this morning, their problem now :D
