Those last two pics are of a mini crawler box, not a 203.

And none are mine.

Just a FYI

Whoops, yeah you're right those are from marlin crawler's website. I was just trying to show the shifters on the floor.

This photo is your set up, however not in the vehicle.

First parts have arrived for the drivetrain swap. 3-speed bellhousing and inspection cover from an FJ40 to essentially make my engine look like a SBC. An Advance Adapters SBC to Dodge adapter will bolt to this, then the Dodge NV4500.

Pretty soon I'll have a Toyopar!

And my new transmount (2nd in six months!!) came in from Rock Auto. I was going to buy OEM, but that was $200 and I decided against it when it will be gone six months from now. However I did purchase new OEM engine mounts as mine are original to the truck and those won't be changing. Hopefully they get here soon so I can get my truck back on the road. Kinda hard being my only vehicle.

Dirty, but here's a pic.

They arrive tomorrow from the Japan warehouse. They ship Monday.

As I tell folks: getting parts quickly for almost 25 yr old vehicles is not as easy as getting some exhaust manifold gaskets for a Chevy 350.

If you are getting into a relationship with Toyota Land Cruisers understand that "now" is not going to happen most of the time.

As I have always recommended to old Cruiser drivers: Buy a Corolla.

I almost bought a 1975 example this morning. However I think it may have needed more work than my truck, completely in pieces.

I'll never be relegated to boring cars!!

We picked this up last month. Still hasn't ran though

But I hear you on the timing. I understand completely. And I also learned my lesson: don't beat your daily driver off road.

Please tell me you're gonna paint the bell housing... Lol

I know you probably are going to ;)

Found a transmission yet?

Yeah bellhousing, transmission, and doubler will get painted. I don't know what color my doubler is powder coated when I find out I'll paint in that color. I already scuffed and degreased the bellhousing.

Waiting on a good deal to pop up on eBay or craigslist for the transmission. Not sure if I'll buy one that's used or a rebuild, they have a couple issues that the rebuilds usually fix, a rebuild is generally 1000-1500 on eBay so I'll probably just do that. In no rush with this project. In addition to the transmission I need an AA adapter (~$270) and an FJ62 transfer case and rebuild kit.

Does anyone have an 85-87 60 transfer case they are willing to sell parts from? I need a 2wd/4wd shift fork. But don't want to disable a good case.

Truck is back on the road! New trans mount is in, and I've got two ratchet straps around each motor mount until new ones come in. Sounds ghetto, but it's stronger than OEM. Going to fabricate an aluminum solid motor mount for the drivers side as I plan on running just over (lower for those who actually understand how gear reduction works) 100:1 with the trans swap.

Rock Auto sent me the wrong transmount! I think it's the automatic version, so only two builds holding it the trans. Those two bolts are stronger than the epoxied glue and rubber so I don't care. :hillbilly:

And I cleaned my engine bay for the first time since the new motor went in!

I have an aftermarket manual tranny mount that I purchased years ago from SOR. Finally got around to installing it last year only to learn that 2 of the bolt holes don't line up. The OEM mount went back in. To fit the SOR mount I'll need to elongate those holes.

Right, the opposite two corners?

I didn't have a choice because my original OEM mount that I bought used was sheared, my new (6!months ago) rock auto mount was fine except that I broke it, this new one is the same brand. Feels fine on the road, I'm not concerned because it's all getting torn out in 6 months anyways.

I felt like my floor didn't have enough non-original holes drilled in it so I put some new shift boots in (my Toyota ones were torn and missing the inners). These were the cheapest on Summit and hind of a hack to install. I'll get nice boots for the 5-speed swap.

Took the drivers side caliper off this morning to rebuild it and decided the pistons needed to be replaced, so I just put that one back together and am going to order a set of new pistons and another seat of seals for that caliper and hold off until next weekend. At least they clean up nice, gotta love stainless steal. These have been on the front of my truck for about fifteen years now:

Had the pistons examined and they were determined to be fine so I proceeded.

Time to do the other side.

Stops better now, the brakes worked pretty well before but it pulled pretty hard to the left under hard braking so this fixed it I think, still bedding in the rotors and need to do some hard stops from 60. That's will tell me if I it fixed it or not.

Gotta love stainless steel, these things cleaned up looking brand new with about ten minutes in the sink with hot water and a scotchbrite.

Next up, eliminating the rear LSPV and re-doing all my rear brake lines.
Not excited about this project but it needs to be done.

Also ordered 4Runner wiper arms, a new washer bottle pump, and some other little OEM parts that have been broken on my truck for a while. Time to start making it nice again.
