I could have sworn all the exhaust manifold studs were good to be inserted and of course it had to be the back stud at the bottom that appears to have a broken bolt in it. I have no idea how I missed this. Snuck the engine forward a bit to get access, frustrating and I'm kicking myself of course. I tried for an hour or so to get the broken stud out but couldn't.. Successfully helicoiled now.

I really need to deal with that roof insulation.. it makes so many photos look so bad.

EDIC motor tested, cleaned and ready to go back on..

you are not going straight for the bowden cable/ edic delete?

I run a Stop Cable on my HJ47... but if the Fuel Control Relay and this motor work "out of the box".. I'll run it until it doesnt work anymore :)

Extractors and various other brackets etc back on after work today. Nice new studs, new washers and new brass nuts for the extractors. Tomorrow after work I hope to do the lower and upper thermostat housing, the bypass hose and then the water pump. I am getting close to being able to do another quick test run before the guards go on so the radiator support can be put in place.

Are those headers from a kit or did you fabricate them?

Lookin' good!

quick question, is naked smoking a thing in oz? kept see a sign prohibiting in your pics :flipoff2:
nice work man

Hahah.. I had to go and find that sign in the photograph.

Naked smoking is indeed the national past-time, one most carefully choose that you dont smoke in a no naked smoking area. There arent many of those areas, but they do exist.

I thought these guards were in better shape.. some unexpected rust repairs today as I want to get the guards, and radiator support on soon..

This alternator is far too scummy to be permanent, even after a thorough clean... It's good enough to seal the oil system and confirm the charging circuit is working before I buy a new internally regulated one and do the conversion.

The power steering is nearly all back together, missing the high pressure hose and reservoir though.

Closer and closer.. body mounts for the radiator surround should here on Monday and then I can get the radiator surround in.. about time to pull the trigger on a new radiator, that is going to hurt - the price of copper/brass units has really gone up in the past 2-3 years :(

what are you going to do for the high pressure hoses? pirtek, enzed, purple pig? or second hand?

I have found the baxter alternators ok, so far.

I got an adrad brass radiator delivered for around the $600aud, a few months ago, haven't tested it tho. I prefer brass as you can burn the grass seeds out if needed, can't do that with aluminium..handles bounces better too

Pirtek I think.. just need to find a day where I can be home.

$600 isnt bad! I'll call on Monday and get a quote from my local guy.

Also I think Baxter do a >100A version for the 2H? That'd be nice.

120a , yeah better when running everything in a night storm. A fella here, hz in oz, sells the regs.

in the ,long ago, past I had an enzed fella come over, do a hard fuel return line for a b engine, filter to pump (simple job), he was a good fella, complained his colleagues were lazy, generally unhelpful to customers, so he went solo as a hose mec. 2x banjos soldered to two bends on copper pipe. He charged $100, he did a good job, we had coffee together afterwards, no worries.

So heaven knows now a day?!

If it was over $300, I would hunt second hand, but they are rare, every 40 series has pinched them. Guess I would be happy at $200-250 for shiny, but maybe dreaming. I am tight ar#d.

Still I wonder if the hjz hoses fit/ or made to fit, wreckers have them $220. The steer gear box is apparently interchangeable from hj-hjz, not for 60's tho, pitman is opposite side. But the hose fittings maybe the same size.?

Hose mechanics have to fix bobcat hydraulics all the time and bust their knees in extended pray position on the hard cold steel inside the digger scoop during winter. Which can make some of them bitter, understandably.
