Would love to see your prep process if you are willing to document it

Happy to document and share.. I, thankfully, have a good mate who is a retired spray painter who is going to be doing most of it.. cheating, I know.

Its out of the shed.. and around to the gantry for engine installation.. my shed unfortunately has access issues that include a small incline at the entrance, not one to shy away from doing things alone I used my endless chain attached to a mulberry tree, and then a spareparts vehicle to haul her out and ease her downhill to the other part of my yard that has my gantry. I certainly wouldn't make either a rigger or a dogger.. but I got the job done.

I may have found that on the Trans Access Road between Glendambo and Kalgoorlie.. I drove this road earlier this year, an epic drive!

Pretty funny seeing real time how it is summertime there. Unbelievable cold front across the states right now.

Is there a reason that you put the body on the frame and are putting the motor/trans in afterwards? I'm doing something very similar and my thought process is to have the motor/trans in and then get the body on.

I just learnt that South Oz has more snakes than any other state. Gosh we have enough here, talk about animal extinction , snakes are not dwindling in number. Tigers these were..

We had a long cold winter.. nothing even close to the winters like yours, I'm so pleased to be back into some warm weather and I'm hopeful our summer wont be too brutal this year. Good luck with your winter!

I would have preferred your approach (engine first, then cab).. but I had access issues with the area where I had the engine stored, I really needed the cab out of the way.

Snakes are always the highlight of trips with my (adult) son.. he's a superb reptile photographer and finds the most amazing examples to photograph. He drives a 2H powered 60 series as well!

fancy that, hard to get too close!
my mate on the south coast is very proud of his death adders. The black/grey ones not the sandy coloured death adders your way. One time after a snake center I think in lightning ridge caught fire and their death adders died. So no anti venom. They came down sth coast and we ended up looking for them on discovery channel about 20 years ago. Typical when you look you don't find them.
Also, a german guy who wrote a book on the fauna of the apy lands came to sth coast for death adders.

Mind you, I had an unnerving time finding too many tiger snakes at the camp site this week. They are very happy with all the frogs and any tin roofing on the ground. Whilst a highlight, not super relaxing .

What is needed in the strzelecki's is a dedicated photographer for the hundreds of different fungi (no bench test for them) ,and unique insects and critters like the native forest snail, looks like a sea snail.

Just found out that logging ceases in 2028, the kolas still have hope then.
Wallaby ate orange peel for the first time, shuddered like my first born first time he ate tomato, acid taste!

I'm not a big fan of finding snakes around the camp either! This is my son's photography page.. C.Margetts Photography - https://www.facebook.com/CMargettsPhotography/

Brum brum.. we go driving soon Princess..
Engine in and back in the workshop! That took all of my physical strength and experience to get the vehicle relocated to the gantry, engine in and relocated back again. Went in reasonably smoothly, a tiny bit of firewall damage though.. it will be fixed!

I am super pleased that the suspension didnt drop too much, the second hand 3" lift I installed is in great condition!

I think I cross threaded an engine mount nut.. did I run that bitch home with a rattle gun? Yep :(

So many fun tasks are now unblocked on my schedule, and still 3 days of the Christmas break left!

geez , your not mucking about. Moving like that will keep you slim.
I wonder Duncan if it is worthwhile putting up 2 x 2h engines for sale on that facebook page? Good price. Surely they look at ih8mud too? I tried gumtree but get sick of updating the ad..

I enjoyed the physical effort yesterday - I couldnt have worked that hard when I was so much heavier.

With regards to selling those 2Hs.. I'd definitely list them on the 2H Facebook page.. but also the 60 and 40 pages:

1. Toyota 2H and 12HT Engine | Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/2h12ht
2. 40 SERIES LANDCRUISER OWNERS | Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/116930885028717
3. 60 Series Landcruiser Owners Australia | Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/642904425745001

Yeah I watch heavy folks and imagine the stress on the knees and blood pressure. I imagine your family must be impressed with your transformation. Few people have the determination, the stomach staple op is becoming much more popular.

I put 2h's on the classifieds here, but a 2h crank to texas from melbourne was quoted $1500! Local would be better. I am a bit wary of facebook so never joined, totally addicted to mud. I guess I should.
I have 5 x 2h's all up and happy to part with 2 of them, one early, one later, a good head is the hard one to find.

Merry Merry to you mate.
