FWIW, I live in Jax and have had two pig windshields replaced.. On my first I got a piece of advice from Cruiserjunktion to call multiple shops to learn if they could source them as opposed to going on Ebay or online.. Every shop I called could source them, with a huge variation in price... some vendors won't come to the truck, some do of course.. If you work the phone and shop a bit, you'll save hundreds.. and get them to come to you... Easy.. Nice rig!!

Just reread your windshield entry and realized you've already done the phone work and sourced your windshield.. uh-duh on my part... :rolleyes:

@MacDaddyRabbit fwiw my glass guy proved your words of wisdom correct. He saw the sticker on the windshield and said he knew that distributor. He asked how much I paid and laughed. There's apparently a warehouse here in Orlando that carries them. Altogether, parts and labor, he recons he could've saved me about $200. Oh well, lesson learned.
 
So I got around to sealing my floors up. Had some leftover bedliner and decided to coat the insides of the wheel wells. I think it turned out nicely. Days like today l, and the instant gratification that painting brings, really makes the truck feel like it's coming along well. Also got some gear from Ace Overland in today.

Got my @wngrog 89nOlder sticker on the window too. Gotta pay respects to your influences right?

Did you passivate that rust with anything or just straight over with bedliner? Certainly looks better; just not sure how that works under bedliner if you don't remove or convert the rust first. :hmm:

There was no rot in the floors (lucky me). Just old paint, carpet glue, and seam sealer. The rust you see is just surface stuff. I do prep beforehand. I hit it pretty hard with a heavy wire cup. That knocks the loose stuff off. After that it get am acetone wipe. Then I start tarring.

I use herculiner because it's cheap and it works. I had this stuff on my 40. It lived outside unprotected and never had any issues. It's rubberized so it seals pretty well on the first coat of you take your time.

In the future you could use some naval jelly (or equivalent product) after wire wheeling and it will remove all the surface rust and you'll have bare metal to apply coating of choice. Apparently the POR stuff likes some rust to stick to, not sure if the bedliner is the same though. Back when I did body work and paint a lot in high school, surface preparation & cleanliness was key. Stuff doesn't like to stick to rust.

You are doing great work on this truck though, looks like it found the right home!

Where did your seat mounts go?
 
Installed a new-to-me DS vent window.
Yanked the door panels. Vaccumed out whatever foul smelling gunk was stuck inside the doors (dobber nests, leaves, a few dead lizards, gross muck/mud).

Finished all door rubber. Waiting on a inner door handle. Started shopping materials for "custom" door panel upholstery.

Got the Good News, Sniper and kit is on its way!!!!!!!

Good to know. Thanks! I am planning on cutting new panels and reupholstering with a different material. I'll use the moldy old ones for patterns. We'll see how that goes though.
 
Also popped open the glove box. It always sketches me out. You never know what's going to be in there. This time though the inventory was less sketchy:
A glove, empty axe can, some cable ties, gold ball sized dobber nests.

Too bad you didn't find some gold balls. That would have helped with the $5k budget. :D
 
Just a heads up, but that mounting area on the wheel well has a tendency to crack over time. Good time to check and fix with a patch panel.

Oh dang. Thanks for heads up. I'll have to keep and eye on it for sure, then. There's a reinforcement plate spotwelded to the inside wheel well there. It looked factory. It looked alright so far.

Where/how does it typically crack there.
