Painted the block and bel housing today. Installed crank and pistons with new pistol rings. Measured my cam and it is out of spec on 4 lobes. There goes another couple of bills!

Man, that's hard to take, on top of the rest, but you will have a great motor to last a long time. Better you found it now.

Keep it going!

Bagged the motor until I can afford a cam and lifters. Started stripping paint and rust off the floor. Got the inner fenders off.

I also did some important ground work so all you mudders know what a pig would look like slammed. I know manny of your are thinking of going this route. After all how many soa on 35s do we really need? (Just so we are clear, I am not serious.)

Nice...I may have to rethink my plans...

Hmmmm....slammed on some Cragers, fender skirts, chopped top...got me thinkin'

Napster,

What's your thought on the rust holes and pitting. Got a plan yet?

Maybe someone could build a Rat Pig!

Ha, that is cool. You'll have to ask Ige what she thinks about low riders...

I'm going to have to cut out the bad piece on the passenger side but i'm drawing the line there. Not to happy. Basically I should be pulling the tub off and fixing ALL the rust but I just don't have the time or the cash to do it right now.

Feels crappy to choose to do something part way...

Took apart the transfer case and started cleaning. Things are looking very good in there.

Where did the split case come from? I thought this one was mostly stock?

Good eye. I scored a 1984 fj60 parts truck. Using the engine, trans, transfer case, and axels. If all goes well I'll have a 4 speed, rebuilt engine, ac, disc brakes and power steering...

all that stuff is gay if you slam it....:flipoff2:

Delta cams ground my cam and lifters, 2 way shipping 140 bux all told. I did a 262 grind, I'd say that the 252 or stock would be my choice on the next motor I do. the 262 is a monster. steals alot of idle vacuum, but gives it all back above 3 grand. I am gunna do some research to determine what people think of the 252* cam, but as I said, the next motor will have a slightly smaller cam. also, the factory cam gear will prolly run more quietly that the solid aftermarket gears. I would also consider buying new toyota lifters rather than a re grind next time. HTH
