I can’t remember if we’ve figured this out before but it’s my birthday today also 😂
Ha! Brothers from other mothers. I knew there was something about it all. Happy Birthday Bro!!

Happy birthday CD!

Soft slings were clutch to servicing the Scag. New blades, refreshed hydrostatic transmission fluid/ filters, oil change, air filter, full grease sesh, all new belts. The Kawasaki motor is so nice on this thing.

@WarDamnEagle @Michael B,@J Mack, @scrapdaddy

In the market for a good 3/8” air hose to replace in my retractable wheels in my shop. Current ones are HF rubber and have lasted about 6 years. They are cracking and leaking. Looking for kinkless/ no memory. Flexzilla seems to fit the bill but i hate the anodized aluminum fittings. What do you all use?

A buddy made me some 50’ whips about 15 years ago with some translucent blue “no kink” high pressure air hose from Grainger and brass fittings he crimped on. Those hose are still good as are the fittings. No Kink is really only when on a reel, otherwise trying to keep them behaving is a joke.

HTH

I'm flattered that you would even ask me! Pretty sure the other guys can answer that question much better than I can. I do have a 50' hose that is pretty kink-less but I don't use a hose reel for air. I think it was fairly cheap and I picked it up in one of the box stores years ago.

In the market for a good 3/8”
The last 3/8" hose I bought was the "Flexzilla Air Hose, 3/8 in. x 50 ft., 1/4 in. MNPT Fittings, Heavy Duty, Lightweight, Hybrid, ZillaGreen - HFZ3850YW2" on Amazon
I switched to these when I started to have issues with the Goodyear hoses I had bought for years, funny enough one of my biggest gripes about the Goodyear hoses was they would leak & bulge the hose at the brass ends, I haven't had any problems with the Flexzilla aluminum ends.

I gave up on rubber hose decades ago.
I like and use the translucent clear hose.

The 100’ closest to the wall is at least 25 years old and I used it daily before I retired.
The all have brass fittings, the blue one is a 50’ and is probably 15 years old.
I think there better in every way. Lighter smaller & more durable
I will never own another rubber hose 😉

Similar to what @Revisik mentioned! Do these kink? Need for hose reels. Did you make these or bought?

I'm just the opposite - hate Flexilla and the tangled trip hazard it creates. Bought a few rolls of this Goodyear hose and haven't had any issues. Quality air hose just isn't common at consumer level these days.

CD I have used this PVC hose for about 20 years. It doesn’t kink, but it does have a memory. Especially in the colder months. I don’t how well it would work in a hose reel. To be honest, I don’t used air much these days. The blast cabinet and tires are the main users and the cabinet is contusionly connected. I bought a new hose reel for the shop (rubber hosed) when I moved in and have used it less than 5 times in 3 years 🤷🏻‍♂️ That was money well spent!

The blue one is like the ones I have and referenced above.

What did you do to my name Holmes?

I find the blue hose can get a bit wild if not on a reel.

Yeah I was buying the premade hoses a dozen at a time for one of my business and back before they merged with Continental we had geat luck..
The last batch we got every one failed at the brass feral on the end that you would connect the tool, it's like the hose broke down from the flexing then would bulge and leak until we repaired them.

I found one that still had to farel crimp to compare to a repaired Goodyear and the Flexzilla.
FYI for my "Heavy-duty" hoses here I use the Parker 801 push lock hose with Parker fittings and never once had one of them fail if you're looking for something more like a traditional rubber..

I bought them.
I never used a reel but can’t think of why they wouldn’t work.
In fact I think they would work better on a reel as the trip hazard comes from, just throwing it out on the floor IMO.
If I walk out what I need the hazard is greatly reduced.
The blue one is the worse offender.
If pulling it off a reel it shouldn’t have that issue.

@Broski that is a potential fire hazard?
