I modified my plans a touch. Reduced the size of the loft to 20' x 14' and put the stairs on the car side, rather than the back wall.

The back wall ladder is really a space killer and is a highly inefficient use of material. A front wall stairs will double as the roof to a dog kennel, which gives me room for 9 permament kennels and a lot more flexibility. I could park 5 cars in this if I wanted, or have 17 kennels. And various configurations of shop.

I'm curious. Usually the monitor has windows or vents for cooling. Is your monitor just a design feature?

It's going to have full HVAC, so the windows/vents are not needed for that purpose.

What the monitor design does is allow a small loft while cutting down on cubic feet I need to heat or cool. Or at least that's the idea.

Continuing to move forward. Building anything in middle Tennessee right now is a chore. Lots of building going on and the labor force is shrinking. Still, I'm patient.

Unfortunately, the general contractor outsourced the siding and windows, and they installed the windows incorrectly so those are scheduled to be fixed tomorrow.

The builders cleaned out headquarters and a bunch of dudes in polos came out in company cars, and basically reskinned the barn.

The first crew evidently consisted of folks who BS'd their way on site, and the second crew was amazed how poorly the job was done. IMO this can be a by product of cut rate labor.

There is a political lesson there, but will let others draw conclusions.

Looking good now, though. Will soak it with a hose tomorrow to be sure
