Bring to Pig Farm, will get the brothers here, bbq ,lots of space. You know your always welcome
Oh man, those guys would stuff you full of BBQ and have your Pig running in no time at all!
Instead of a Pig Party, maybe a wrenching party?

Did we ever figure out the source of the shavings?
Not yet. I am waiting until I take it out as it would be easier. The rear main may be the issue and cant get that cap off that w/o pulling the motor so it seemed like a good idea to wait unitl I had the other engine and picker in hand before moving fwd. hoping in the next few weeks I'll have it. I might clean and paint the engine bay while I have access. As we know, one project almost always leads to 1-5 others 😏

I am sure I'll have plenty of questions once I start. Once I have everything removed and ready to install, I am thinking removing the driveshaft and have a trans support so that lining up the splne will be less frustrating than it has to be. There are usually tricks to do this, just haven't read up on doing this w/ a 55.

@Tomba. Good luck with this new engine. As much as I love doing something like this….I'm so glad I’m not

I feel the same but sometimes unfirtunately s*** happens. I wasn't planning on diving in to this lvl of repairs but on a positive note
this transaction sorta worked out and I am not in a hurry to get ready for the next concours d'elegance so, once again on the semi slow roll.
Seems everyone wants to help as soon as I say I am dropping in an engine, and as we know its a 2 man job....

Thinking about finaly swapping engines starting this weekend. I'll have better data on the engine I'll be swapping soon and will know what gaskets, clutch, bearings etc have been recently changed but aside from the usual stuff to consider when doing a f emgine swap, should I consider new motor mount bumpers? My current ones are looking a bit crusty.. Also, is there a trick(s) to aligning the input spline into the motor when I install ?
I have a trans lift to move the trans or take the weight off of it but, for those who have done this project before, any input would be helpful/appreciated .

TIA

Get 2 long bolts for the bellhousing to trans. Cut the heads off, use a band saw to make a slot in each for a flathead screwdriver. Put them in the top 2 holes of the bellhousing to use as guide pins for aligning the trans to the bellhousing. This will line up the input shaft perfectly to the pilot bearing. You may have to turn the transfercase output to spin the trans slightly (leave in gear) to align the splines. Put in the bottom 2 trans bolts, unscrew your guide pins. Install top 2 trans bolts. Have a beer 🐖 🍻

Weekend pig plan foiled ... again. Family gone on a National Geo. cruise in Alaska and, we have a garage full of kitchen cabs staring at me every time I enter the garage. ugh. In an effort to bank some points with my wife, I decided to start on the cabs instead. I found these jacks at HF which turn a 2 man job into one. Gotta love HF :) Happy Sunday fellas!
