Any specific reason you use the split case over the 80 t-case? Easier/cheaper to adapt?5.3L/4L65E/ Split case in my wife's 95 80 series

still a lot to do, but fired up the motor last night!
I can't figure out how to load a video from my iPhone...![]()
There's probably a better way of loading a video, but I had to first load the video to YouTube, then post a like to Mud..

holley is around 2000 us right? The front drive assembly is made by Holley.
Yes, the split case makes the truck 4WD instead of AWD
So, I probably over looked this but has anyone found an adapter for the temp gauge that's not from Marks? I done want to pay 35 dollars in shipping.
I know its m12x1.5 - m16x1.5 or at least that's what shows up in my search of this thread..... I'm not having much luck finding anything local. I'm probably over thinking this but figured i'd ask.
Thanks!
I used the temp sensor in the lower manifold of a 5vzfe. It's much smaller. Keep in mind I did the resistor mod too on my temp gauge so that might change things if you don't do that. So, I probably over looked this but has anyone found an adapter for the temp gauge that's not from Marks? There was Auto Meter 2277 Oil Pressure Temp Metric Adapter M12 x1.5 Male to 1/8 NPT Female that would fit the LS head but I think the guy that used this had tapped the center to M16 fit the water temp sensor if I remember correctly.
I got mine off amazon for like 15 bucks.

So you're going the route of tapping?
Mocking up my trans and engine. This, right now, is my front driveshaft/oil pan clearance. I havent had much luck creating more space there. How much more room do you guys think is necessary to prevent any rubbing?View attachment 2333673
What is the resistor mod? I think I might of missed that... I have a 3FE and I think the temp sensor is the same through 97?
Yes, looking up M16 taps. I have the brass adapter.
just have someone cut new thread on the old sensor that is what i did , if you go that route you must use OEM sensor because aftermarket sensor body does not have enough metal to machine it to right diameterSo, I probably over looked this but has anyone found an adapter for the temp gauge that's not from Marks? So you cut it down to an M12? I have a brand new OEM sensor. Guess I need to find some one to cut it down.just have someone cut new thread on the old sensor that is what i did , if you go that route you must use OEM sensor because aftermarket sensor body does not have enough metal to machine it to right diameter

yes you cut it down to 12 mm and i used die to cut the tread because my lathe can do only standard thread , but like i said sensor must be OEM there may be other good sensor but i do not know it looks like after market sensors r stamped v.s. OEM solid brassSo you cut it down to an M12? I have a brand new OEM sensor. Guess I need to find some one to cut it down.
