I just replaced the factory engine last Dec, Original had 296.000 still ran fin was burning oil. I bought a toyota short block and re built my head. Runs great. But I can take to shop for repairs and can fix it on the trail. I Did a conversion on my older toyota truck to a 2003 vortec V6.Ran fine for 11 years then stopped.Been working on it on and off for 2 years trouble shooting it. Still in process The newer engines electronics make them a pain. Cannot take it to a shop because no one wants to work on a conversions. SO if you go that way try to do the work yourself so you know the systems. Breaking down on the trail with no idea of the systems sucks.I know a lot of people love their V8s and can work on them. Either way you will spent a lot of cash,People who say they did it on the cheap. Did they put a new engine in, did they rebuild it, who's harness did they use. Good luck with what ever you do.I am happy with mr t engine Not in a hurry to go anywhere anyways.
