Starting to work on some aspects of comfort for the 60.
After getting the AC going I wont to do some tinting all around.

Im leaning towards less tint while still getting UV and heat protection so its looking like 3M crystalline might be the route. I found a guy local that quoted me $550 over the phone.

Curious if anyone with Crystalline or any other light tint jobs could post up picts, prices and experience with it?

I just had the front and rear doors on mine done last month with LLumar ceramic for $225, with a quote of $150 for the rear and cargo area windows. (THe installation was with Florida-legal tint levels.) The shop owner recommended ceramic since I do use a cell phone, GPS and data pads when I'm out on the road. I had removed the ~25-year-old tint from the doors windows, and upon the installation of the new tint, I noticed a big difference in interior temps. So much so that even on some hot days, I turn the blower of my A/C down to about 1/2 speed to keep from getting too cold up front. I've never had that issue in my Cruiser before!

I’ve been thinking about this too. Ceramic tint offers great UV protection and heat blocking. However, to keep the classic tintless fishbowl look of the 60 series... tinted windows are not ideal. I’ve been looking into clear tint. Like this...

Clear Window Tint| LLumar

Anyone with first hand experience with this product, I would love to hear from you.

I had a local shop quote me on 'clear' tint that was supposed to cut down on heat and UV but not be too dark - but never got around to it. I can't stand 'limo tint' in general, so I'm a hard sell on tinting in the first place. Would love to see pix of someone who pulled the trigger.

In the rear tinting has a few advantages, does help cool the vehicle down and does help with keeping the things in the cargo area less visible.
Not a fan of tinting the drivers or passengers windows.
These are both good things. It does however take away from the overall look of the vehicle in my opinion and I myself am on the fence on tinting.

I think to keep it cool the clear tint would be better. Not sure about the darker tint.

I plan to go crystalline in the next couple months. Most likely the 70 series on the side and back windows and the 90 on the front. I was all set to get it installed but life happened and it had to get out on hold a little longer which was a huge bummer. Not cheap but supposed to be the best. @c2dfj45 has installed some on his 79 series cruiser and you can hardly tell it’s there!

Crystalline is the best stuff out there. I run their 90 in my LC79....there is a very very slight blue tint to it but you would never know it unless I told you. The 70 has a bit more blue to it but it's heat rejection is dramatically more than the 90. I think on any Cruiser, the 70 would work from an aesthetic standpoint....it kind of modernizes the glass.

We put Crystalline on every car we do. It's absolutely night and day how it cuts out the heat. Llumar has an Air 80 I believe but I don't think it stacks up against Crystalline. Xpel has also introduced a line of heat rejection film....it is more on the grey side of things. My tinter loves the Xpel but I think that's due to the fact it's easier to work with. Crystalline is very thick....not easy to do curves on certain windows.

Whatever film you do, make sure to do the windshield....with the 90, it's nearly impossible to see anything is on there(you have to feel for the edge) in case you have legal concerns. Cutting heat from coming in that front windshield helps big time.

No problem. I'm not really a tint guy...never have been but the heat rejection film is really not tint in the normal sense.

Good info on clear tint options. Also on the fence between the classic clear look and the noticeable utility of sun protection.
Living in So. Cal something to counter the hot sun and its UV rays is good.
A buddy of mine who does a lot of driving had significant face and scalp skin issues on the left side of his face/head. That reminded me to get something done soon on my daily driver vehicle as well.

I like the look of tint. My truck has it and I will probably be getting redone, but darker. I like the privacy too and there isn't much on my truck that is stock anymore anyhow.

I struggle with retinting or not. I too just removed 25 year old tint. Living in the Bay Area you can’t leave sh:t in your car anyway cause the thieves are so ravenous. I do need some UV protection though. I really want a new windshield as well. If the sun hits me right in the eve you can’t see anything due to the old glass with years of pitting.

Would love to see some pics of this “tint” you have @c2dfj45

All of the certified Crystalline dealers here in Los Angeles are quoting 800-1000 for every window.o_O
Ive also read reports of ebay sellers of the Crystalline selling knock versions.

There was a picture of a tan 60 with light green tint. It looked really tasteful.

I’m more inclined to do clear or light green tint because the visibility is one of my favorite parts of my truck.

$800-1000 for ALL the windows is pretty fair. It's about 3x more to do Crystalline vs. regular tint. Hard to justify spending a G for tint but it's worth it. Just make sure if you're going to do it that if it's time for a new front windshield, you do it before hand.

This is the best pic I have of the Crystalline 90....remember, this stuff is virtually clear but in certain lights you'll see a very faint blue. All windows in this truck are done in 90. It's very very hard to get accurate pics of the tint....lighting plays a lot of games with it. I personally love the 90 because I don't care for tint...this stuff is perfect for me.

I think on a 60 it would be just about perfect....kind of has an OEM look to it.

This is Crystalline 70 on all windows. The 70 has a lot more blue in it. This pic, it looks a little darker than it actually is due to the light(or lack of light) when this pic was shot. 70 has more heat rejection....so if you can deal with it looking a little darker, this would be the best setup.

This car also had a medium brown interior....that plays a big role in how the tint looks. Most likely with the lighter headliner in a 60, it's going to look lighter.

Wow, That really looks great. I'm definitely going to back burn tinting for now and look further into this. I'm currently digging the fish bowl look but the sun is a killer out here.

It's worth every penny. We do a combo of Lizard skin of the floors, roof and doors(sound and heat control)....along with the Crystalline, the inside stays very very cool.

Almost every customer we do it for cringes when they see the bill....but then they bring in every car they have for it once they've experienced it for a while. I think we're all programmed for $300 tint....hard to get the brain to accept triple that amount but this is far from tint.

I'm not a big fan of the darker tints combined with the 60 series. I bought some Johnson 40% vlt carbon ceramic tint and did all the windows myself for about $75 and about 6 hours. I really like the look and the heat control is much better than before. The 40% isn't super noticeable and doesn't take away from the fishbowl look I think.
