Perfect CD. Just sent them an email with pics of what I’m needing.

Grainger vinyl tape. Commonly used for floor taping so I have no clue if it works for cars.

So I’m doing a small punch list for SAS6. Stripes, ceramic window tint, new rear shock crossmember and fluid change. Does anyone know where I can find a 48+ inch roll of the correct color (like my brothers white 60)? I want it in the 7-7.5” width. This roll I bought online (Fastdecals.com) does not have the correct color orange). I like the pattern and placement, just need to find something that looks Toyota vs Southwest Airlines. Ma man Casey @POTATO LAUNCHER called that out right away :).
May drop a pic on IG and see what I can find as well.

Still looks pretty awesome!

Alright…getting some things done. Completed the swap of the rear shock tower cross-member. About half done with tinting the windows. I’ll be the first to say I will never be in the business of tinting windows. What a PITA. The hardest part is trimming the tint after heat shrinking it to the outside of the glass. And you have to be careful separating the backing. Ruined the first sheet as it folded in on itself and that stuff is sticky. I’ll rate this job as “good enough”. Each window has an imperfection somewhere. I’m getting better as I go but fortunately with it being 80% the errors are not too noticeable. My # goal is to see how it does on my trip to CO in a few weeks with heat and UV reduction. Going to give the windshield a try, but no guarantees it will come out ok. No pictures as you would not even see the tint it’s so light.

Figured out an easier way to tint windows while in the AC. It’s 100+ degrees in my shop. Since the door panels are off it’s only two bolts to release the front two windows. Going to pull the lift gate glass as well problem is I had to order another roll of tint two different times I cut the tint with it the wrong way This is a very frustrating job Seems easy enough, but now I can say the professionals earn their $

@CenTXFJ60

You are correct Sir. Putting tint on is a major pain in the butt. In 4/21, I started my Install in order the be sure it would be on for the drive to SAS5. Very frustrating, eventually I put my tail between my legs & hobbled into the house & pleaded with Maureen for assistance. ‘Just one window until I get the knack down’. Fortunately she stayed & helped with the entire process.💅💄💅

Jimmy, you will like it, well worth the frustrations.👍

So good to know John. And like y’all, I’m not giving up. Screwed up my windshield and did not shrink the material enough and had some major fingers on the passenger curve. Put the heat gun on it to remove it the next day. Caused a 1/2” crack to jump to about 10-12”. Pulling the glass as I have a new windshield on order. Will pick it up on Monday and tint it prior to install.

Sorry to hear Jimmy. That sucks. Hope you can get it done to head up as you wanted. Are all the windshields in the body grove spoken for?

SAS6 is in jeopardy for Maureen & John McVicker.

Wheeling yesterday & lost 3 of 4 bolts on the rear U joint of the FRONT drive shaft. Heard the drive shaft flopping around, going slow so came to stop in 5-10 feet…BUT the drive shaft flopping around hit and broke a part on the T Case called ‘Front Drive Shift Fork Shaft’ per FSM with the arrow pointing to it In the 1st picture.

Do not have the time to source part, drop the t case, disassemble, install part, reassemble & reinstall the t case before my leave date of 7/29.

Once I get into 4H I can shift back and forth between 4H & 4Low, but with the broken shaft I can’t shift into 2H. So….fellow SAS3 attendee Jerry Fie has suggested the following remedy. I will try it later today… redneck but if it works I think we can make to SAS6.

Heres the thought: Tap, tap, tap the broken shaft in & it should go into 2H. When I need 4wd I will get out, go under the truck & pull the shaft out with some vice grips. I can us the shift lever to go back & forth between 4H & 4Low all day. When the trail is over, get back under the truck & tap, tap back into 2H. Then I can do a proper repair after SAS6.

I won’t be able to out there until later today to try this out but as redneck as this is, do you think this will work…or put another way, do you see any reason why it won’t work? Appreciate your comments.

Oh man that is a crazy break John. I’m with Jerry. No way I’d let this stop me. As you mentioned a pair of good vice grips should do the trick. The only issue I see is access when the skid plate is on. I would probably set up camp on Sunday, grab a cold one, drop the plate, put it in 4wd, put the plate on and keep it there until Friday evening and pull the plate to get in 2wd for the treck west.

Dude…so sorry to mess your thread up. Totally meant to post this in the SAS thread. Going to try to copy this & post it there also.

HOWEVER, I do appreciate your thoughts on this. As I said, I won’t be able to test this theory until later today but I actually think I’ve got enough room to get the vice grips in there fairly easily.

Now let’s see if I can copy my post.🙈

No worries John. Just know there won’t be a SAS if the McVickers are not there
