This happened today. We now have a complete HDJ80 manual transmission cluster. With 0 miles

My banker also informed me that she is now the “go to” person at my bank for currency conversions and international wires. Sent a lot of yen to Japan today for a brand new FTE short block. Hard time finding it but it’s been located and should be heading our way via DHL express in a day or two.

The short block or cluster? I am not aware of any other short blocks for sale. But the cluster people maybe. Or METER as @Onur calls them. They did superb work.
 
The cluster, never seen a new one before.... The ones I've all seen come prestocked with dust.

I dont think the cluster is new. They just reset the odometer on it :)

Did you try ordering the short block from GCC? I see a couple still showing "in stock".

Bits and pieces of the cluster is new. But obv they never made a MPH speedo with the diesel turbo tach and no auto shift indicator. So its the best we can do with what we have.

It's the details in builds like this that really make the difference. This is a huge one IMO - looks amazing.

A bit more blasting to get it nice and shiny and perhaps some clear coat after that.

It's the details in builds like this that really make the difference. This is a huge one IMO - looks amazing.
I obsess about the details on this truck almost as much as I do about my Mustard 40. I’m sort of glad we had the motor hiccup because now the truck is really dialed in. There really is nothing left on this truck that I have not made a decision about replacing, restoring, etc. and had a valid reason for the decision. If that makes sense. We could have easily painted this truck - and I considered it - but decided against because I preferred to maintain the bumps and bruises (because I knew them). There was no rust but the truck has some character.

So another detail. I never was crazy about how the rear seats turned out. I sold the pictured ScheelMann seats and ordered something completely custom and will recover the rear seat to match. They are ScheelMann but we are going with custom upholstery.

Still in the planning stages on the center console. I have a lot invested in that one.
 
This has to be the most complete, amazing, expensive build I’ve come across on MUD. This is so cool and congrats, keep us up to date!

John's only in competition with himself, but he is a strong competitor. Camel, 80, FJ45, 200, 77. I'm sure there's at least one I'm missing.
 
Finally got the turbo coolant line in.

So I bolted it up and mounted the exhaust manifold for the final time.

What turbo and intercooler are you going?
 
Oversized injectors, yea? What’d did you have Rhys and the Gturbo mob set the max boost fueling for in the ecu? This will be fun to drive when done.

Yes and pump to 12mm iirc. I don’t recall on the ECU.
