every wire is still being tagged
thanks to Bruce i was able to locate the anti-OX stuff and he walked me through on using it properly.
fill the coupling, crimp and then shrink wrap over. is should be years before any issues come up.

thanks Bruce.

Wayne, Firstly I've been watching your threads for years and do just that: watch and learn. But every time I read the latest update I find myself saying the same thing time and time again: "Man, you do nice thorough work. Real professional" Just thought I'd type it out this time so you know what another cruiser head thinks of your work.

Also, being a rock climber myself I'd say that second last picture it one of my all time favs.

thanks for the compliment, greatly appreciated.
rock climbers (ice) are in wicked shape, eh? i met a young lady in Calgary that was engaged in the rock climbing ... ripped and a wholesome look to her. very attractive personality ... must be all the fresh air.

Impressive attention to detail as usual ....
Just to be clear .... The red will still go to + and the black will still go to - ? :D

Gifu, this pic is for you.
you redrill the hole down 1/4"
then you will need to either cut the dash pad as i did to allow the face to sit lower or sand the bottom 1/4" off

the replacement dash pad from Radd Cruisers. new was $500, used, delivered was a very good deal.

it was nice having the old dash to practice on. the cut has to be percise and you can't cut past the end AT ALL or the crack will continue over time.
measure, measure, go have a coffee, come back and remeasure again. steady the hand and score the first line, go back and score slightly deeper, repeat and repeat. then move over 1/4" and repeat again. cut in from the ends, do not cut to the end from the inside or you will end up with an oops.

okay, so you have the test piece done, now do it again with the new dash pad.

test fit the pod cap and gauge plate in the old one before cutting the new pad.
swap the retaining pins and bolt the new dash down ...

remember the mess of wires to the back of the gauge panel?
here is a reminder.
a bit of a rats nest and there is the air system pressure gauge line in there somewhere.
all the wires are color coded on the back of each switch in case the owner ever needs to have it removed.
final assembly of the pod. all bolted down ...

When I win the lottery, I want to be Wayne's shop rat! My wife might even understand after seeing the quality work in this thread. Off to drop $2...

Sent from my iPad using IH8MUD... fun starts where the road ends

new 400A fuse holder mount created, simple enough
still using nutzerts where practical, so much nicer than trying to hold a nut, tool and bolt on each side of the fender...

some new toys arrived today
new halogen DOT headlights with some custom bulbs.
Lightforce fog / driving lamps with wiring harnes and yellow covers. for those of you that don't experience winter white outs, blinding snow, thick fog (all of which we get here) the yellow lenses cut down on the glare being reflected back off the wall of white.

lots of goop on the ends to resist corrosion, every wire connect that is outside of the body is being saturated in this sticky stuff, then crimped, then shrink wrapped. hopefully this means trouble free wiring for years to come.

the power feed to the 400A fuse, from there one wire to the winch quick connect, one wire to the shut off, from the shut off to the 2 fuse boxes.

then the ground side of the fuse box ground feeds (at the top of the fuse box) run back to the battery. this allows grounds to be run to the fuse box instead of directly back to the battery. hopefully this will help to keep a clean look when finished.

the wiring will be cleaned up once the rest of the feeds are run.

the fuel feed for the Wabasto is mounted and finished.
there is more clearance than appears in the pics between the Wabasto exhaust and the surrounding items. even though, i am considering a heat shield for over the top and between it and the fender in places. recommended is 2" between the exhaust and anything flamable ... well ... paint, fuel lines, electrical lines etc.

everything is getting such a tight fit it is starting to remind me of the HZJ40 build. 1/2" clearences or so it seems.
