Hey. Truck starts fine. Motor runs fine, no weird vibrations or noice.
It revs up in neutral all the way to 3.5K rpm w/o issues. But when I put it in gear, engine abruptly dies.
Any ideas on what the issue could be?
I’m at a parking waitng for a tow truck to take us home. Just trying to find the problem to get it fixed this week

Thanks.

Is this an auto?

When I let out the clutch to go.
Tried letting the clutch out while reving the engine and the engine still stops.
It’s a smooth stop, like when turning the engine off.
Could it be a faulty shot off VSV?

It could be….you can just unhook the vacuum line to test that.

Does the cruiser move forward at all or does it feel like it’s bound in gear? Can you put it in neutral and roll it?

Yes. I actually had to put it in neutral I had the wife do the steering while I pushed it out of the road.

Unhook the line with the copper gasket on it.

If that’s not it, my guess is the transmission is bound up or something.

You can put the tcase in neutral and then try letting out the clutch slowly.

Thx. Let me try that. I saw your post after taking the pic. LOL

When I went out to take the pic, it started the LC and let it idle for a while and after a couple minutes the engine died again. So I guess the driving was pure coincidence.
I disconnected the line, fired the engine and went out for a short drive, the engine never shut off.
Something I noticed while test driving it is that the brakes felt hard at times, like when the engine shots off.
Could this be related to this VSV as well?

Yep. Tell tale sign your booster is going out. So that will cause the hard brakes and cab issues.

possibly your vacuum pump as well but there is a factory test I’ll have to find in the manual.

Editing this:

Does your clutch feel harder than normal?

Sounds like losing vacuum. Plug the line you took off the shut off and see if everything is fine
