Are you guys sure about the Windshield being a later model?

It has 3 bolt holes in the WS itself like pictures Ive seen but it does not have the vent ???

Im not going to replace unless I find a killer deal on one, just thought I would ask the experts...

It is def. a 66+ windshield, but I have a proper early one for you if you are interested.... I can add it to your pile :hillbilly:

GEEZ! send me an email how much, but more than likely wont worry much with it.

I will have to figure out someway to latch it to the tub as right now its only tied to the rollbar! My plan is to remove the rollbar to give it that old school look.

There were no rollbars in 1962, correct?

No OEM rollbar until the 74 model.

As for your three holes in the windshield you would find even if you had the correct part for the 63 and early windshield you would find it to tall to fit. In 64 Toyota changed the design to a quick release latch. The top hook was a tall hook with two bolt holes. In mid 65 when the vent went away the windshield got taller and the metal strip across the bottom got narrower. The hook then changed design to use a shorter wider wider hook bracket with three bolt holes. 68 model brought the padded dash in this country and the latch went away.

The tub brackets are usually still there. It's the bow that goes into that hard to find. I think all mine still had the brackets attached. Some even had bolt and bracket for the safety straps.

I've decided to refresh the 62

If I could edit the title of my thread I would. Thought about starting a new thread, but decided that would be repetitive.

Bought a correct bench seat, jump seats, steering wheel, steel rims and windshield frame. Thanks to a fellow mudder! ;)

Plan is to repaint exterior tan, just not much on black on any FJ40. Im going for the look of the picture below.

Does anyone know what colors were available in '62?
I've seen the 64-67 paint chart, but nothing earlier.

Paint Colors 1964-1967.webp

Looks like original color was a dark green metallic, eek.

Ive considered painting Volcanic Beige, Hot Rod Flatz Desert Tan or just spray can Krylon Camo Tan (simply for economical reasons). Would this decrease value?

Should the bench seat and jump seat frames be painted the same color as vehicle or pewter gray?

Also planning to buy some military tires for steel rims. Found some on Summitt Racing.

Any other suggestions..

Cool Alex! Glad to see you will be bringing the old girl back!! I like the sound of your plan, as for the color Lilly White would be the color pictured on the '61 you posted above (two of my '62s were this color). Also I believe there is a little more accurate color chip sample burried some where here on mud, as the one above has some errors in names and such. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Again glad to see you brining the old girl back and I look forward to the build

Alex

in '62 everything was body color there was no pewter at all, the pewter didn't start until late '63 i believe with the change to the newer body styles and such.

X2 All but hte bumper. I believe those were pewter. I have a later 1960 FJ25 and it was pewter. Nothing on these cruiser have ever been repainted. But at least the frame and wheels were black un like the FJ25s that was still body color.

You can rattled can it for sure, you are not doing a frame off, so don't worry about it, but, for the price of paint, I'd get that glove box door removed and taken in to get scanned ( I see some kind of off white on it), or matched to an existing off white/light tan paint at NAPA or someplace, and get their cheapest paint and shoot it with that

Were the Bumperettes white?
