Hello All, I'm contemplating a purchase of a 1962 FJ40 but given where I live, I'll need doors and a top. Are these items around or available via 3rd party? I've started the search with some of the usual vendors on the board. I currently own a FJ60 and am looking for a stablemate.

Any feedback or leads would be most appreciated.

Cheers, James

Post up some pictures when you get a chance.

As for the top, It depends if your potential cruiser is a hard or soft top model and if you want to keep it more original to its build.

Aftermarket Soft tops are manufactured by a couple companies and can be supplied with the needed aftermarket bows. The soft top doors are harder to find but can be found via the classifieds section or ebay if you're patient and depending on how much you want to spend. You can also use hard top doors with some slight modification to the soft top bows. Overall look to spend anywhere from 1500-3000 for an aftermarket soft top and bows. and around 400-1000 on a set of doors.

For the hard top, The early cruisers used a "corregated hard top" *Picture for reference:

Those are harder to find but can also be sourced via the classifieds section with some patience. The price of those range depending on how much you need it and how much the seller wants to get rid of the top.

Later model tops can fit with some massaging but they are not true to the build. It's really up to how original or not you want to be.

Thank you for the detailed response. I’m pretty sure it’s a factory soft top but will confirm. I’m still mulling the purchase and am doing my research to see if this makes sense.

Cheers, James

if it has door openings like the one above, it's hardtop. in 62 the factory soft top would have the funky door openings like annie. you can also look for eyelets on each end of the dash (or holes where they might have been)

The pieces come up for sale often enough that you could piece one together.
This comment only applies to hardtop. Fst parts are rare. And side panels are most common (beware of high post vs. Standard post). Rear hatches not as common and the tops are rare and specific to corrugated tops. Later roofs won't work

Good callout! I think we are still waiting for OP to post up some pics to solve whether this is an FST or not.
