Saw an ad on Craigslist in the Palm Springs California area.
She's selling a bunch of stuff left when her father passed. Included in the lot is a pig that's been sitting for many years, with a Ford V8 engine in it. Could be a deal for somebody.

This is one of several classic vehicles I inherited when my father passed away last year. It is a 1969 Toyota Landcruiser, in need of restoration. It has a few minor dents and surface rust. My father put a brand new Ford engine in it and never completed the hookup. The vehicle has been parked for decades and needs to gone through thoroughly and restored. What a classic! I have a 1969 Toyoya Landcruiser FJ55 I would like to trade for an FJ40 (preferably trail ready) of higher value, and then work out the difference.. This cruiser has a "bix six" 4.9 liter chevy 292 (with a 2 barrel rochester), and a new rebuilt TH400. It had a new head and gasket put on it when I bought it. It has a new water pump, fuel pump, fuel filter, flamethrower coil, and I recently installed a new, rebuilt (beefier, later model) steering box and linkage, so the steering is tight. It has a brand new windshield and gasket I just got from Toyota. It has a brand new headliner. The rear driveline I had made last summer by six states, and has all new u-joints. I have decided to stay out of the 55series market, unfortunetly it was after I purchased 3 of them. I am posting in vehicle section because 2 of them could be made out of the three I have.
1977 FJ55 - Runs, No top, No doors, good drivetrain, No title but I have paperwork to aquire CA title (came out of wrecking yard)
1969 FJ55 - No drivetrain, good body, has roll bar, and axles, No title
1971 FJ55 - Runs, No radiator, body is rough but fixable, has title and plates
$1500.00 takes all of them, along with any parts that are go with them (many parts inside 71')

I've loved these trucks since they first came out and now I've just got to have one. What should i look for (good stuff) and what should i watch out for (other then rust) How much should I expect to pay for one thats in really good shape?

I have a 1974 FJ40 that I want to trade for a FJ55. The Cruiser has drum brakes, 4speed transmission and high low transfer case. There is power steering and it works great. The motor has been changed to a Chevrolet straight six 250. The floors have been replace and painted with Gator Gaurd. The rear quarters were patched with new metal panels. The top is in great shape and the drip rail is not rusted out. The wheels are chrome mod 15X8. The tire are 33-10.50 bfg MT. The tires are fairly new and have a lot of thread left. The suspension has been changed for HFS 2.5 inch lift and 1/2 inch greasable shackles. This is not a SOA setup. The bumpers are custom made using heavy steel. I'm selling a rusty 1969 FJ55 landcruiser. This is being sold as-is, still drives, but is not currently registered. This would make an excellent parts truck. It has an installed rollbar, an overdrive which I haven't installed, and a spare tailgate with motor, lift mechanism and window. This is located in Berkeley, CA.

1970 FJ-55 Landcruiser for sale in Tucson, AZ. It has original F engine with 90,846 miles. Green paint. Has light rust and dent in tailgate. 1 & 3) The body is rough, very rough. The previous owner had someone do the body work that (in my opinion) was terrible. Rust have come through in all the usual spots so whoever did the work must have...

I have seen this rig, looks nice green and silver pearl, owner said it has a rust spot or two, I have looked at it close in a couple years. Good luck, your on your own!
