I also did a little mirror upgrade. Thanks to CROCKPOT, for the idea. Have not got on the interstate yet, but I'm sure they will do fine.

While researching what vents/breathers need to be raised, in anticipation of water fording, I learned that my distributor venting setup is missing a required VCV.

I contacted beno (on vacation) and ordered the VCV ... Should be here around the end of August

The best information that I can find on how to properly vent the distributor is @Output Shaft 's excellent documentation, in post#12 of this post, offered up by @1911 .

Avoided what could have been a major problem. I have been in the process of finishing my om617 swap and apparently when I put the tranny tunnel back on I pinched the power lead to my cb under one of the bolts. I started it again today after adjusting ip timing and was letting it idle when smoke started billowing out of dash on passenger side. Shut her down and found about a foot of bare wire, the insulation had burned completely off. After checking everything it was only that wire and a couple others with burnt spots on the insulation. Odd that it just did it because I have ran it and even driven it since putting the tranny back in? At least it happened in the driveway and not the highway.

Changed oil/filter, serviced K&N air filter,

greased all zerks, changed plugs,cap,rotor, timed and rotated tires. Still need to adjust valves (tomorrow).

Lost my gas cap! DOH! Went to put fuel in today.. and it was gone. Lame. I think I left it on the step or on the rear tire when I left Gold lake last weekend... and haven't put fuel in it since until today.

[40Wanted]

After years of lurking and dreaming of owning a 40, I bought my 1st one Saturday!! It's an August 1976, a little rough around the edges, but mine all mine. [emoji2]

Frame, axles, and most of the body (bib, hood, aprons, windshield frame, top, doors, etc) are good and solid. The back 12 inches of the tub is a different story, going to need complete sill replacement, 1/4 panel patches or total replacement ($ will determine that), and some work on the wheel wells.

Engine was blown and removed before I got to it, but I am planning to run a Cummins 4bt with NV4500 anyway, so didn't worry about the missing engine.

Look forward to finally being an active member and learning from all you guys!
