Finally made some progress in my 3B swap.... Got the rear quarters on. (Yes, apparently that's part of my engine swap method...) passenger side is on and drivers side is almost done (the hard part is done!)

Should be buttoned up (save maybe the top seam) tonight...

I went temperature control this weekend...installed a new thermostat in an effort to see if I could reduce the average operating temp of my sbc 350. Jury is still out on oh successful that was. May go to an electric fan next.
That said....I cooled the interior by several degrees by losing the top! Sun's out, fun's out!

I drilled the holes and test fitted my snorkel then, removed it and the fender and apron. Getting ready for the power steering installation. Sucks though I did break three out of the four bolts holding the fender support to the frame. I did soak them and try gently. Didn't take much force to break them. So I guess I will have to drill and tap them.. Unless anyone has any better suggestions.

I did the same thing removing my fenders...But, I used an "easy out" and had good luck removing my broken bolts..I used stainless and a liberal amount of "Never-Seez" to replace the old bolts...

What are you going to do for a driver side mirror?? I see you don't have one mounted on your door.

Actually I just found it. They guy I bought the cruiser from gave it to me years after I bought it. I don't think im going to mount it to the door. Will most likely fab up a bracket and attach below the windshield hinge.

I have been looking at 40s with snorkles and the dorrs off to see how they had their mirrors mounted. I have decided to mount mine below the windshield hinge too. On the side in front of the door hinge. That way it clears the snorkle.

Ok, please don't laugh at this science experiment :-)
Finally hooked up my Autometer vacuum gauge. Been wanting to see how my donor 2F performs in the vacuum department (plus I was told one must be friends with vacuum).

Pulls rock steady 18 at idle.

Had difficulty finding a good reducer T, so used 1/2 inch pex copper T. Oh well, it works.

Decided I'd finally had it with the wipers not doing their job and just smearing bugs and water around , so....made new springs for the arms .

Originals were .072" wire , Hillman Hardware #117 from Ace replacements (close as I could find) were .080" and 1/8" larger coils but they still fit . The HIllman's are much longer but gives enough material to make both wiper replacements from one spring . It's not fun to bend and duplicate the angles for the hooks , but doable ....

Only mistake I made was shortening the number of coils by 2 , should have left it the same length as oem since now the arms force enough pressure on the blades to lay them a bit too flat . But , they do wipe quite well and leave nothing behind , even at 70mph in high winds ....lol . I did find out something else , the motor mounting was not giving a full ground and twice it failed to work on that trip Saturday - in pouring rain . A good solid whack on the dash fixed that temporarily until I got home and clear weather allowed a full install of internal-tooth lock washers on all 4 mounting bolts . No hesitation now .

Need to pull the wiper switch and fix it's lubricant - no detent position for low speed , low works but you can't feel the point where it rests on the shaft .

Thank you. That seems to be the best way to mount a mirror when you have a snorkle. That is how I'm going to mount mine.
Do you have to shorten the amount of throw on the door regulators so you dont smash the mirrios when the door is fully opened?

44 followed me home this morning...

Her engine is a long block and has gone to the rebuilder

Here she is, sans heart

The rebuild will take 4-6 weeks, including time time spent, working her way up a waiting list.

I reinstalled my tow bar and brought her home so that I can spend, at least, some of that time cleaning up the engine compartment and doing somestuff I have been trying to get to inside the cab.

Meantime, Chester has grown quite a bit and Gunner has spent much of his time working Chester with an 8 lb medicine ball. This picture was takenafter Chester wore Gunner out... Chester has claimed the medicine ball and Gunner has passed out!!
