The 45 is a guy that lives about 3 miles from me. Had it about 15 years but only saw it last week. Funny, this day I saw 2 other 40s and this 45. All in about 1 hour and within a 5 mile radius. And just because y'all are too polite to ask...

Thanks for the pics aroising! I'm not a 6.5 hater, in fact I have a 94 K2500 with the 6.5 turbo. I've spent a lot of time on a couple of the 6.5 forums. thetruckstop(dot)us and dieselplace(dot)com There are several things that can be done to undo the problems caused by the GM bean counters. Your second pic answers one of my big questions, did you use a turbo motor? I'm not sure how you found the space for it in there though.

How much space do you have between the motor and the firewall? I've always figured that there would be some space, but not sure just how much. How much fan clearance to the radiator? What radiator did you use? What transmission did you use? How did you configure the exhaust system? What did you do for motor mounts, make your own , or? I could come up with more questions, but these are the biggest ones.

For several years now I have been collecting parts to swap in a NA 6.2 or 6.5. My plans, and parts I've collected so far, are Ranger OD, H42 out of an early 80s 60 series, 203 doubler mated to a mid/late 70s TC, and 3.70 gearing out of a 60 series. The 3.70s are for about 2000 + or - RPM at highway speeds (60 to 70 MPH), and the Ranger OD also helps make that possible, and adapts the GM bellhousing to the H42. The 203 will give me back the low end crawling speeds. I used grimmjeeper(dot)com as a gear ratio calculator to help come up with these.

All this will mean a very short rear drive line. To help offset this I plan on moving the rear axle back as far as easily possible. Also, installing the motor as far forward as possible. So, if you could, please get pics of the clearance between the motor and firewall, fan to radiator clearance, fan to cross member under radiator clearance, and oil pan to front axle clearance. I'm a very visual oriented person so these pics will help me immensely to build this in my head.

I started picking up parts for this several years ago. Then six years ago I received a low back and sacro-iliac injury that put me on disability. Since then this project has been very slow, but I now have almost everything needed, even a good running (but oil burning) 1983 6.2 pickup as a donor. The only major parts left to get are flywheel/clutch related.

Thank you very much for any help/pics you can give me.

Took mine to Home Depot thinking surely, I will have the coolest vehicle there. I was when I went in. When I came out... THIS guy. 1964 Fj45

Man, I am so ready to take my hard top and doors off for the summer, but it's just not quite warm enough this far north yet.

Navigated, while Gunner drove Morman Well Road and Pine Nut Road, in the Desert National Wildlife Refuge, north west of Vegas - had a great drive, on a long and slightly winding road, with my best buddy!!

Gunner is convinced that many of the UFO sightings, in the vicinity of Area 51, originate from this portal:

It was a gorgeous day for a drive!!

If anyone is jonesing (old verb meaning craving) for more pictures, they are in the thread in my signature.

This morning, I cleaned the blowby (oil) out of my air cleaner, changed the air filter and started contemplating just how I can install a heat shield, to protect my Power Steering Gearbox and pressure hose from my exhaust headers.

I have the materials, but only have about 1/4" between the gearbox and the headers and will need to bend the shield several times to make it fit... mulling...

Pulled my sleeping platform out of 44 and re-installed the passenger seat back, so that Dianna (Wife) will go with us on our next day trip (Mon?).

She hasn't yet driven 44 and it's time!! Every time we've planned a trip, thus far, I had to take 44 down for maintenance. Not this time!!

I also removed all my camping 'stuff' and placed Gunner's bed in the back - can't go far without him!!

Great pics Danny!!! (You've just made me download another.)

This is probably the last time my :princess: drove mine..

I can still hear the graunching noises in my head as she searched the box for the next gear :D (That pic is 1980/1981 I believe...)

Embarked on reupholster project. Donor seats coming apart and will be covered with charcoal set.

Old covers are in great shape with no rips, just dirty, if anybody is looking for a tan set.

Pitched the old, dead, externally regulated GM alternator for a more modern (1985ish) 12SI alternator. Rewired the whole charging system, complete with more grounds and fusible links, since the PO had dubbed them "unnecessary." The battery is charging again, and the truck is no longer a ticking timebomb of potential wire fires.

Had to get a little creative with the alternator mounting...

Total electrical rookie here, couldn't have done it without the help from the folks on this forum, particularly @bj40green and @Pin_Head (and of course, many others in there as well!)

Now to figure out what the heck is going on with these turn signal housings...

No, my turn signals are not on in this picture...this is what the truck feels like doing at idle...

Worked on the 40 inside.

Mother Nature worked on my GREEN 80 outside.:bang::bang::bang:

Photo not edited, not altered, not enhanced in any way....

Somehow it is managing to freezing rain, at -16C, at a wind chill of -26C and this ice is ROCK hard! I've had a heater going inside my truck for 5 hours (would normally clear my window in 3) and all it's done is that tiny spot above my wiper!

Insane!!!!!!!................45-50 today in Ohio.............

Made some new seat rails to mount up to the flipped rear brackets. The 2" of extra leg room make all the difference. I also took my seat rails apart and can now adjust them ALL the way to the back after them being non-adjustable due to crud in them. Its the little things.
