Thanks. did you have to make any serious modifications?

You need two rafters or beams on 48" centers to mount the two sides of the hoist on; I had to put up two 4x4 beams in my shop to do that. The only mod to the hoist I made was to take the eye bolts that came with it off of the ends of the four cables and replace them with rubber-coated bicycle hooks to set the hard top on.

installed OME lift, plus extended shackles, all other goodies as well, snapped all the old stuff off. corrosion was serious.

I like your 40 and new lift, but I hate to tell you the front shackles are facing the wrong way. They are pointed to the front, but they should be pointed to the back in order to perform their anti-inversion function.

Installed a rear bench seat out of a Mitsubishi Mini Pajero. Full folding and lay flat backs. Fit like it was made for a 40 sorry no pics yet. Changed the oil in the diffs and tranny+t-case. Installed a new to me homemade roof rack.

Hi All:

Took the rig for a drive for the first time in ~ 2 months! :D

Just finished swapping on the wide-pattern steering knuckles and disc brakes (from a '83 BJ60.) Borrowed the factory SST to center the donor knuckles correctly on the '78 front axle tube. New rotors, new flex hoses from the calipers to the hardline, early 1990s 4Runner calipers with the four big pistons, and new brake pads were included with the swap.

Just need to figure-out the wiring for the electric line-lock I installed in the front brake circuit to make the rig ready to hit the trail! :steer:

Regards,

Alan

I used a vacuum on it today - felt like the first time in years

the Specter carpets practically ATTRACT the desert :hillbilly:

oh yeah, did I mention it will all be full of read dust again after Cruise Moab

x2 what he said......and the rears appear to be on backwards as well......otherwise sweet looking 40 and good choice of lift :)

Spring reversal. Also added a leaf because I felt the rear was sagging a bit..

I've got some TJ flares ordered, I'll trim the sheetmetal accordingly when they get here... Also reinstall the driveshaft ;)

The weekend is just getting started good, what's next?

Stared at my new ARB on my work bench, wishing there was a way for it to magically find its way into my front axle. Worked on getting my new shop air compressor running instead (a REAL compressor - 17.5 cfm @ 150 psi)

Traced wires in my fj40 to get my rock lights working. Finished wiring a transmission oil temp guage.

Preped and sprayed the FJ with a nice PPG 2k primer in my little one car garage....for next week, sanding!

Aftermarket cd player, don't like that lower dash pad won't click in.
