All this has to be good, b4 an a alignment can be done. Proper steering setup and geometry is the key. My 75 40 is more a blacktop driver, most things are newer except for the tre's. They maybe original, idk. I recently recently serviced the knuckles too. It's the best handling 40 I've ever had. I haven't hit 80 yet, but I've come close. i run 4" lift, 33-10.50 radial mt's at 26psi and power steering.
Man I would not even dream of 80mph 😲

Bonne soirée
j'ai un collège qui a une essence série 200 et il n'a plus de tension quand il met le contact, batterie en bon état fusible
si vous pouvez m'aider ou chercher
merci d'avance

Got sick of balancing the spindle, gaskets and dust cover.

That is awesome

Thanks, hope I wasn't breaking any rules or norms, but I thought it was a cool little project. He's not afraid to tear into something. Hope he gets some use out of it. We've had such a mild winter snow wise so far that he'll have to trailer it somewhere.

Swapped in a shiny new carburetor in order to remedy a long start issue I’ve been having because the fuel disappears from the bowl if it sits for 2 days or more. Even though it’s a cheap aftermarket clone of the original carb, it fires right up easily every time and doesn’t appear to have the disappearing fuel from the bowl anymore. Will see how long it lasts.

Took it for a beach cruise for its first real test drive and very happy with it so far. I was even rewarded with some beautiful waves to play in. Have a great weekend!!

Is this one of the Amazon carbs? Did you hav ego dial it in at all? Link to the one you used? I’m trying to decide if I want to rebuild mine or by a clone.

Jen - you should have a fleet of 40’s for us to rent when we vacation in Hawaii…. Just a thought 😉

This is the one I ordered:

Honestly, the reviews were all over the map on the 20 different ones you can buy, and I guess it’s hit or miss if you get a good one or not. So far mine is a huge improvement for reliable starting and it runs and idles great after some fiddling with the idle air mixture screw. There is some great YouTube videos from Otramm on how to get this right. Also, mine needs a spacer for my air cleaner to fit properly.
You could wire in a momentary switch to an inline electric fuel pump (<$15 on Amoron). Hold the button down - when the pump quits clicking the system is primed. I think the manual pump will pass through.
Maybe if this new one doesn’t last long I may go that route, but right now it’s running great.

Well, some might say I already have a fleet of Land Cruisers here in Hawaii…does 5 make a fleet?

I cant think of a better way to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii than in a topless 40.. if you decide to rent Ol Blue let me know (that patina is perfect!)

A lot of the ‘55-57 Ford Thunderbird people do the momentary electric fuel pump prime as well and most are very pleased with the way it helps start the car.

Very common with the Porsche 356 crowd as well. Some use electric pumps to prime, some an old fashioned outboard engine gas tank priming bulb.

I would have to agree with you, there is something really special about cruising the Hawaiian coast in the topless 40.

And Ol Blue, AKA the Chicken Barn 40 (since I found it in pieces in an old abandoned chicken barn on the westside of the island) is going to be something special…still formulating a fun build plan for it. But this is how it started:

All the pieces came together easily, with the frame being in fantastic shape and most the body panels being pretty solid as well…especially since they sat in that chicken barn for the last 17 years. Should be a fun project!

I installed one of the Chinese carbs and ran it for almost a year and then had issues. There is another thread about them on the forum too. At that price its worth getting a spare, tear the spare down and clean it really well so its ready to go. I found small metal filings and had to tear it down and clean it really well before running it again. Swapping a carb doesnt take long at all.
