Pulled both outer door handles off the ‘64 and welded on them until they matched the holes in the doors/locks. No more rattles.
Then I did the same to the ‘64 gas pedal. Got an extra 1/2” of pedal travel now!😉

I was out there about 2 weeks ago. There is another 40 identical to mine about 3 miles out of town. He was out the same night I was, but didn't get a chance to talk shop with him.
Does it have black rear flares? If so that might be the one I've seen - I've seen two in the plains, can't remember if both had rear flares or just one. The only other red 40 I've seen was out in Clifton for a motorcycle meet a number of years ago.

It does have flares.

I finished the other fender this weekend.

Got the top on. Need to clean it up and get the rear doors mounted. Its been a long time since I've had a moving 40. That top has probably been sitting under a tree for 10+ years.

Ran out of Argon/CO2 mix. Can't get more until Monday.

Nothing like removing loose material from the exposed frame rail, inner fender well, steering stuff, and hitting it with all-position gloss black in a can. Not even masking, just chasing with acetone the over-spray, and don't care about drips, or windy day.

Not quite a "rattle-can-resto," but, just keeping up with stuff. Getting rid of rust stains, and gas stain, on paint, adding structure, covering holes with 22g unpainted patch panels. Not hiding anything, but, it makes everything look good when it gets an even layer of dust from the trail.

Patches like this? Project WTF keeps moving slowly onward .

Also I've been working on getting the FJ40 a little bit nicer space to rest. I think it's turning out pretty good.

Camera angle makes it look like your main steering rod is bent.☹️

Yeah I was thinking the same thing as I was posting that picture. I'll have to check it out for sure.

You got anymore of those lying around? ;)
Sure do.😉 I stock both bare rods and complete assemblies with genuine Toyota TR ends.

@FJmaine
Looks good, way to go!

Your doors look brand new, do they are the new "made in China" doors?

They are not new. If you got close, you would see some rust holes and pitting on the bottoms, but in pretty god shape for New England. I threw a quick coat of rattle can flat black on to make them look a little better- lipstick on a pig. This is what they looked like last week. I'm trying to get everything back together and looking decent for an event in Vermont this upcoming weekend.
