This was enough to cut three panels to fit under the factory front mat - less than $20 at home despot. I plan to trim it down to a centimeter or so smaller than the mat and attach to the back of the mat with double sided tape so I can pull the whole thing out if it gets wet.
How thick is it?
Fiberglass?
It’s less than 0.25 inch thick.
Here’s a link to the specs - https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/27/2700a02f-56db-41a2-8ebb-6bb7a5d0aaef.pdf - and a link to the Home Depot page - Everbilt 24 in. x 10 ft. Double Reflective Insulation-ADD04 610x3.048 - The Home Depot
It’s plastic (LDPE) bubbles with a PET-MET (metalized poly film) on either side.
I haven’t tested the heat resistance yet. It’s got a bit of a crinkle noise underfoot, which hopefully will subside over time.
Finally felt comfortable with the road worthiness of Pork Roll to take her on a longer ride. I'm always loving the awesome off road and trail pics that you all post. Since I live in the most populous state per square mile and close to NYC I figured that I would mix it up.

Nice work!im starting to see more and more of this Phenomenon , The crumbling Connectors on Later Model Trucks
this wiper switch was out of a 1978 . at first i have thinking its just the Ravages of age and Time, and mabey
some is indeed so , but after severalbefore noon today , a bell went off in my head ,
its UV rays damage , but how under the dash ? well the Kick Vents of course Matt , i said to my self
I have not seen this in Older Toyota Cars when im Grazing The Yards For All The Discontinued Electrical
Connectors i can fill my pockets with
so , i remove 1 terminal at a time and insert in a new UV rated Connector housing , i also polish the brass terminals too as i go
it looks like the old connector got BIT by a Zombie from the walking Dead or something
well now's shea's ready for a New Life of Reliable service for a happy owner .

What's that color? My contemplated, refined & forward looking roadmap I'm working toward. Evey aspect of her detail, inside & out, has been envisioned. This conjured image is my personal path of my 1979 USA vehicle's complete rebuild. She'll be my path beyond any trail's end.

Am Driven & Motivated ! . . . Stoked !!
@rkymtnflyfisher I bought a similar heat shield for the floor of my ‘78 from CCOT, works excellent and was reasonably priced too. Might want to check them out![]()
Attack of the PO. While cruising down the highway I hear a horrible chunking noise coming from the engine. Immediately shut her down and towed the Old Gurl home. Camshaft gear chewed up. I was able to pull it off by hand. Looks like the PO didn’t install the snap ring.

Now I’m faced with a complete engine rebuild as who knows what kinda damage was done while it was rattling away at speed. Pretty demoralizing as its been only a year since I got the Old Gurl back up and running.
While pricing parts at American Toyota I was amused and gratified that the parts guys are still taking care of us Mud members.
