Today the 40 got fresh oil and filter, K&N air filter cleaned, and steering box adjusted. Running like a champ!

Tomorrow...the Fj55 gets new carburetor installed, new fuel line, oil change, distributor cap & rotor, new plugs and wires....good times!

Rig basically done and rebuilt carb installed— did not have to fiddle with it— plug and play. Rig is at muffler shop today and will go to alignment shop tomorrow and, unless something else breaks along the way (not unheard of with these old rigs) I should be able to bring it home tomorrow

So, got a PTO up front, a portable 10k winch that can go in rear (via trailer hitch mount but all neatly stored in my Tuffy boxes until I need it) and, to round it out, just bought a Wyeth 3 ton hand winch— may come in handy and it fits in my Tuffy boxes. If I were a chick, I am certain I would have hundreds of shoes and black skirts (wife says you can never have too many of those)

Is your license plate holder the “hard to find” one that is special to Cruisers with PTOs? I have always wondered why they made them differently. I have seen them installed in different ways than the traditional on top of the bumper.

Sorry no pics but busy day..

Picked up pewter powder coated items, 33 x 10.50 bfg ko2s, 5 oem wheels n caps, got them mounted and balanced, picked up the cruiser from Salem Exhaust, full exhaust from the manifold back for 300 bucks, including welding an o2 bung for my near future afi fuel injection upgrade, got my lower dash pads from the dash man, plus a couple boxes of rubber, emblems etc etc...

Happy Days!!!

I am no expert but I think right left license plate holder was standard for the 69' FJ40. Again, I could be very wrong. I seem to recall LIvinginThePast telling me those are hard to find--maybe because people just took them off an threw them away?

Reinstalled the choke cable end onto the carb. linkage today. If anyone needs the round cable end it's available from : Dorman p/n 03336. An assortment of ends are in the package for $2.99.

What do you do about that spot everyone complains about before the dash pad is purchased, but you never even notice after it’s installed?

Finally got that hideous bumper off!! Thank god Wes the previous owner had the foresight not to weld it in, just bolted... Although he did drill through the vin on the frame.

Chasing items on ‘Honey-Do’ list has kept me from doing much on my truck but I did see something 40 related while gathering items at the big orange box..........

You still like liking those bias tires?
Bearing in mind that my driving so far has been limited, yes, they are fine for the intended use of this rig. No complaints, I would get another set for any similar vintage rig,
